Location: Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaReports To: Project Director / Engineering ManagerPosition SummaryThe Survey Monitoring Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all survey and structural monitoring activities for the Riyadh Metro Project. The role ensures accurate monitoring of tunnels, stations, viaducts, depots, adjacent structures, utilities, and critical infrastructure during construction and operational phases. The position oversees monitoring teams, manages survey data, ensures compliance with project specifications and international standards, and provides technical leadership to support safe and efficient project delivery.Key Responsibilities Survey & Monitoring Management Develop and implement survey and structural monitoring strategies, procedures, and methodologies for the project Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks across project corridors Manage all geodetic, topographic, deformation, settlement, and structural monitoring activities Ensure accurate installation, commissioning, and maintenance of monitoring instruments and survey control points Oversee monitoring of tunnels, stations, retaining walls, viaducts, bridges, track structures, adjacent buildings, roads, and utilitiesTechnical Leadership Lead a multidisciplinary team of survey engineers, monitoring engineers, surveyors, and technicians Review and approve monitoring plans, survey methods, technical reports, and monitoring results Ensure survey and monitoring activities comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and international standards Provide technical guidance on precision surveying techniques and deformation analysisData Analysis & Reporting Monitor and analyze movement, settlement, displacement, and structural behavior data Evaluate monitoring trends and identify potential risks affecting project assets or third-party structures Prepare and present monitoring reports, dashboards, and technical recommendations to project management and stakeholders Establish alert levels and escalation procedures for abnormal movements or structural concernsStakeholder Coordination Coordinate with construction, design, geotechnical, tunneling, civil, and rail systems teams Liaise with client representatives, consultants, authorities, and subcontractors regarding monitoring requirements and results Support engineering investigations and provide survey data for design verification and construction validationQuality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and safety regulations Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for all survey and monitoring activities Conduct audits and inspections to verify accuracy and reliability of survey data and monitoring systems Maintain calibration records for all survey and monitoring instrumentsTechnology & Systems Manage advanced monitoring technologies including: - Total Stations - GNSS/GPS Systems - Digital Levels - Automatic Monitoring Systems (AMS) - Inclinometers - Tiltmeters - Settlement Monitoring Systems - Vibration Monitoring Equipment - Track Monitoring Systems - Laser Scanners and UAV Survey Systems Ensure data integration with project databases and monitoring software platformsRequirementsQualifications & Experience Education Bachelor's Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Geodesy, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline Master's Degree is an advantageExperience Minimum 10-15 years of experience in surveying and monitoring for large infrastructure projects Minimum 5 years in a managerial or lead role Proven experience in metro, railway, tunneling, or major transportation projects Experience managing automated monitoring systems and deformation monitoring programsTechnical Skills Strong knowledge of precision surveying, geodetic control networks, and deformation monitoring Proficiency in survey and monitoring software such as: - Leica GeoMoS - Trimble 4D Control - AutoCAD Civil 3D - BIM Platforms - GIS Applications - Microsoft Office Suite Ability to interpret geotechnical and structural monitoring dataCompetencies Leadership and team management Strategic planning and problem-solving Strong analytical and decision-making skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management Ability to work under pressure in a large-scale project environment High attention to accuracy, quality, and safetyKey Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy and reliability of monitoring data Compliance with survey and monitoring specifications Timely submission of monitoring reports Zero critical survey-related non-conformities Effective management of monitoring alerts and risk mitigation actions Successful maintenance of control networks and monitoring systems Safety performance of survey and monitoring teams
