MRI Lead Technologist

About the RoleThe Lead Technologist, MRI section works in conjunction with the Director of Imaging, the Institute Administrator, and Imaging medical staff to improve patient and work flow by providing support, education and leadership to the technical staff. The Lead Technologist is responsible for the day to day operations of the MRI section in the Imaging Department.ResponsibilitiesLeads and manages shift assignments and coverage for their modalityLeads educational and training programs for employees regarding equipment usage, new protocols, patient safety, and career developmentLeads programs for performance improvement, efficiency and productivity, employee engagement and patient experienceProvides an advanced consultative technical resource and assists the manager in the supervision and technical development of the assigned radiology sectionAssists the diagnostics supervisor with the maintenance of all required section records and the provision of any statistical data that might be required in support of management activitiesPrepares and checks patient prior to MRI procedureInstructs patient regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperationPerforms MRI imaging procedures and adjusts the system and sequences to obtain the most effective identification and presentation of anatomic structures and abnormalitiesArchives digital data and images for physicians and radiologists to review and dictateMonitors equipment and system operationsSets up and adjusts MRI equipment and systemsTroubleshoots problems related to image quality and reports unresolved problems or issues to technical staffEnsures that exam rooms are clean and equipped with appropriate supplies and equipment required for each patientEnsures that a safe environment is maintained during MRI examTakes responsibility for patient radiation safety by following established guidelines and protocolQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Radiography, or graduation from an accredited diploma program (minimum three (3) year curriculum), is required orGraduation from an accredited Radiography program (minimum two (2) years) and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, UK HPC, or equivalent, is required.Graduation from an accredited Radiology program is preferredMaster’s degree in Medical Imaging or relevant clinical master’s degree in a related field is preferredJob Specific Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with physicians and radiologists to coordinate proper imaging of patientsAbility to work independently with little or no direct supervisionStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to speak and write in English is requiredAbility to speak and write in Arabic is preferred
