Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole DescriptionA Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring, securing, and optimizing an organization's network infrastructure. The role ensures reliable connectivity, high network availability, strong performance, effective security, and efficient communication between users, applications, systems, cloud environments, and business locations.Key responsibilities include:Designing and implementing LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and enterprise network infrastructure.Configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, access points, load balancers, and network appliances.Monitoring network performance, availability, bandwidth utilization, latency, packet loss, and connectivity.Troubleshooting network outages, connectivity problems, routing issues, DNS problems, wireless issues, and performance degradation.Managing IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing protocols, and network segmentation.Implementing and maintaining network security controls, firewall policies, access controls, VPNs, intrusion-prevention systems, and secure network architectures.Supporting cloud networking environments across platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.Managing hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity between on-premises infrastructure, cloud environments, data centers, and remote locations.Performing network upgrades, migrations, expansions, hardware replacements, and infrastructure improvements.Conducting network capacity planning and recommending infrastructure improvements based on business and technical requirements.Developing network diagrams, architecture documentation, configuration standards, procedures, and technical documentation.Managing network configuration, firmware updates, patches, backups, and change-control activities.Conducting network assessments, vulnerability reviews, performance analysis, and security evaluations.Supporting network disaster-recovery, business-continuity, redundancy, and high-availability strategies.Implementing network monitoring, alerting, logging, and automated incident-detection systems.Using network-management platforms, automation tools, scripting, APIs, data analytics, and AI-assisted network monitoring where appropriate.Collaborating with cybersecurity, systems, cloud, DevOps, IT support, infrastructure, application, and business teams.Working with internet service providers, telecommunications providers, technology vendors, and external network specialists.Managing network-related incidents, service requests, escalations, and root-cause investigations.Maintaining network asset inventories, configurations, licenses, support contracts, and technical records.Supporting network performance optimization and identifying opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.Participating in infrastructure projects, technology deployments, office expansions, data-center initiatives, and digital-transformation programs.Ensuring network infrastructure complies with organizational security policies, technical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.Preparing network performance reports, incident summaries, capacity reports, risk assessments, and management recommendations.Providing technical guidance and support to network administrators, IT teams, and other technical stakeholders.Continuously improving network reliability, security, scalability, automation, performance, and operational efficiency.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN, and network protocols.Knowledge of network technologies such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, SD-WAN, QoS, and wireless networking.Strong experience with network hardware, firewalls, load balancers, wireless infrastructure, and network-management platforms.Knowledge of network-security principles, segmentation, access control, VPN technologies, IDS/IPS, and secure network architecture.Familiarity with cloud networking across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar platforms.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.Ability to analyze packet captures, logs, network metrics, alerts, and performance data.Familiarity with network automation, Python, scripting, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration-management tools is advantageous.Knowledge of monitoring and observability platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, Nagios, Datadog, or similar technologies.Familiarity with SDN, SASE, Zero Trust, network virtualization, and modern enterprise networking is beneficial.Strong documentation, communication, teamwork, and project-management skills.Ability to work effectively with cybersecurity, cloud, DevOps, systems, IT support, vendors, and business teams.Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, CompTIA Network+, or cloud networking certifications are advantageous.Strong understanding of network availability, redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuity.Strong attention to detail, technical judgment, adaptability, and security awareness.High level of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to reliable and secure network operations.
