Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole DescriptionA Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring, securing, and optimizing network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity, high performance, scalability, and security. The role supports enterprise networks, data centers, cloud environments, wireless infrastructure, remote locations, and business-critical communication systems.Key responsibilities include:Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and enterprise network infrastructure.Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, access points, load balancers, and network appliances.Manage IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, switching, and network segmentation.Monitor network availability, bandwidth utilization, latency, packet loss, traffic patterns, and overall performance.Troubleshoot network outages, connectivity problems, routing issues, DNS failures, wireless problems, and performance degradation.Implement secure network architectures, firewall policies, VPN solutions, access controls, and network-segmentation strategies.Support cloud and hybrid networking environments across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and other platforms.Manage connectivity between offices, data centers, cloud platforms, remote locations, and external networks.Perform network upgrades, migrations, expansions, hardware replacements, and infrastructure improvements.Conduct network capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements based on business requirements.Develop and maintain network diagrams, configuration standards, technical documentation, and operating procedures.Manage firmware upgrades, security patches, configuration backups, licenses, and change-control activities.Conduct network assessments, vulnerability reviews, performance analysis, and security evaluations.Support high-availability, redundancy, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity solutions.Implement network monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated incident-detection systems.Utilize scripting, APIs, network automation, Infrastructure as Code, data analytics, and AI-assisted network-management technologies where appropriate.Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, DevOps, systems, IT support, infrastructure, and application teams.Coordinate with internet service providers, telecommunications providers, technology vendors, and external technical specialists.Manage network incidents, service requests, escalations, and root-cause investigations.Maintain network asset inventories, configuration records, licenses, support agreements, and technical documentation.Optimize network performance, reliability, scalability, security, and operational costs.Support data-center deployments, office expansions, infrastructure projects, technology upgrades, and digital-transformation initiatives.Ensure network infrastructure follows organizational security policies, technical standards, and applicable requirements.Prepare network-performance reports, incident summaries, capacity assessments, risk reports, and technical recommendations.Provide technical guidance and support to network administrators, IT teams, and other stakeholders.Continuously improve network reliability, security, automation, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and network protocols.Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, QoS, SD-WAN, and wireless networking.Strong understanding of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless infrastructure, and network-management platforms.Knowledge of network-security principles, access control, IDS/IPS, VPN technologies, segmentation, and secure network architecture.Familiarity with cloud networking, hybrid infrastructure, and virtualized network environments.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to analyze packet captures, network logs, alerts, performance metrics, and connectivity data.Familiarity with Python, scripting, APIs, network automation, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration-management tools is advantageous.Knowledge of network monitoring and observability platforms is beneficial.Familiarity with SDN, SASE, Zero Trust, network virtualization, and modern enterprise networking technologies is advantageous.Strong documentation, communication, teamwork, and project-coordination skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cybersecurity, cloud, DevOps, systems, IT support, vendors, and business teams.Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, CompTIA Network+, or cloud-networking certifications are advantageous.Strong understanding of network availability, redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuity.Strong attention to detail, technical judgment, adaptability, and security awareness.High level of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to reliable and secure network operations.
