GTI is also a co-investor in the SEA-US Submarine Cable System, providing high-capacity, low-latency connectivity to meet growing global traffic demands.About the Role GTI Telecom is looking for a Network Technician to support the operational integrity of our carrier network infrastructure, including submarine cable landing stations, colocation facilities, and interconnection points. This role covers circuit operations, cross-connect and cabling work, remote hands support, and troubleshooting across a multi-vendor carrier environment. The technician will gain hands-on exposure to submarine cable systems, transport equipment, and carrier-grade network operations while working alongside vendors including Nokia, Tata, Verizon, Lumen, and China Telecom Americas among others.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform cross-connect installations, cabling infrastructure management, and cable termination and testing  at colocation and cable landing facilities.Provide remote hands support for carrier circuits: patching, port verification, and equipment power-cycling under NOC or engineering direction.Acknowledge and respond to system alarms and trouble tickets within shift, performing first-level triage before escalation.Perform routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping (5S) on network equipment and cabling infrastructure per established schedules.Support customer and carrier infrastructure build-outs: rack and stack, overhead cable runs, and cage/cabinet builds.Execute installation, de-installation, and physical commissioning tasks as directed by the technical engineering team.Log circuit and equipment activity accurately in shift handoff notes and ticketing systems for review.Assist with physical layer troubleshooting (fiber breaks, signal loss, port/interface faults) and escalate to the Technical Engineer/manager or vendor support when issues exceed first-level scope.Flag faulty or degraded equipment for replacement and stage spare equipment as instructed.Follow safety protocols and facility access procedures at all times when working in colocation/cable landing station environments.RequirementsBasic to working knowledge of telecommunications fundamentals: fiber cabling, transmission media, and network equipment.Familiarity with data center or cable landing station operating procedures preferred.Ability to read and follow technical work orders, port diagrams, and cabling schematics.Comfortable working in a physically active role: lifting, climbing ladders, working in raised-floor/overhead cable environments.Sound first-level troubleshooting judgment and willingness to escalate rather than guess.Clear written communication for ticket updates and shift handoff notes.Availability for on-call or rotating shift coverage as circuit operations require.Valid US work permit and driver's license.Preferred QualificationsAssociate's degree in telecommunications, electronics, IT, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.Prior experience as a data center or NOC technician, cable installer, or telecom field technician.Exposure to submarine cable systems, carrier interconnection, or colocation environments.Associate's degree or technical certification in telecommunications, networking, or electronics (or equivalent hands-on experience).
