This is a field-heavy, \"smart hands\"role — the technician travels to remote farm sites to deploy access points, setup new connectivity, and support on-farm IT operations, while strictlyfollowing site biosecurity protocols. The role also covers troubleshooting andmaintenance of alarm lines, phone lines, and other connectivity systems.This is an excellent fit for a technician whoenjoys driving and traveling regularly across a wide geographic territory,working independently at remote sites, and solving connectivity issues hands-onrather than from a desk.Major Areas of AccountabilityInstalling standardized network connections, wireless access points, security devices, and cabling for LAN/WAN connections at remote sites spanning a large geographic areaTroubleshooting system failures and identifying bottlenecks to ensure long-term site efficiencyInstalling and troubleshooting standardized alarm and phone lines (VOIP or POTS)Designing and installing computer networks, connections, and cablingTroubleshooting system failures and identifying roadblocks in the networkFixing problems in LAN infrastructure, and testing/configuring softwareMaintaining and repairing hardware, including peripheral devicesEvaluating network performance to drive improvementsScheduling upgrades and maintenance without disrupting farm/business operationsProviding technical direction and basic training to coworkers on network systemsWorking with vendors to source needed equipment for networks and systemsFollowing farm biosecurity practices at every site visitEducation, Training & ExperienceRequirementsMinimum formal education: Associate degreeClear, concise, precise written and verbal communication — able to work with both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong, solution-oriented approach to team problem-solvingAbility to multi-task, prioritize objectives, anticipate situations, and take quick actionDesirable additional qualifications:2+ years of experience in a corporate IT team environmentCertifications (a plus, not required):CompTIA A+CompTIA Network+Cisco CCENT/CCNATechnical Skills:Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologiesExperience with Level 1 and/or Level 2 user support (Freshservice or similar ITSM tool)Networking — routing and switching (Cisco, Meraki) and wireless technologiesEnd-user computing devices — Windows, Android, iOSExperience with physical security or bio-security programs and tools (a plus)
