Team members are supported with modern production tools and opportunities for professional growth in a competitive media landscape.Role DescriptionThe News Manager is responsible for overseeing daily newsroom operations, managing editorial decisions, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate and compelling news content across broadcast and digital channels. This full-time, on-site role based in Abuja includes supervising reporters, producers, and editors, assigning stories, reviewing scripts, and maintaining editorial standards. The News Manager coordinates coverage plans, manages breaking news situations, and collaborates with technical and production teams to align content with programming schedules. The role also involves mentoring staff, monitoring audience trends, and contributing to strategic planning to strengthen Skyline News TV’s editorial impact and brand.QualificationsThe ideal candidate:Should possess strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication suitable for newsroom environments.Possesses solid Writing skills for reviewing scripts, crafting editorial briefs, and refining news stories.Has proven Team Leadership skills to supervise, coach, and motivate diverse newsroom teams.Is an effective Project Management skills for planning coverage, managing deadlines, and coordinating resources.Must have robust Editorial skills, including news judgment, fact-checking, and adherence to ethical journalism standards.Comes with relevant experience in television or digital news, with prior newsroom management or senior editorial responsibilities.Has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle breaking news, and make sound decisions under pressure.Has earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Is satisfactorily familiarity with newsroom software, broadcast workflows, and digital content platforms is beneficial.Boasts of strong organisational skills and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory workplace practices.
