Orange County Government serves a diverse population and is committed to providing high-quality public services, including accessible and compassionate healthcare.Role Description The Nurse Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role located in Hillsborough, NC, responsible for overseeing nursing staff and ensuring high standards of patient care in a public health setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and scheduling nursing personnel, monitoring clinical workflows, and supporting adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory guidelines. This role coordinates patient care activities, assists in developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures, and promotes best practices in infection control and safety. The Nurse Supervisor collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, provides coaching and performance feedback to staff, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives and documentation. The position also involves direct patient interaction as needed, maintaining accurate records, and serving as a resource for clinical questions and community health programs.Qualifications Strong clinical nursing skills, including patient assessment, care planning, and clinical decision-making.Leadership and supervisory abilities, such as team coordination, staff mentoring, and performance management.Knowledge of public health practices, care standards, and regulatory compliance in a healthcare setting.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with patients, families, staff, and community partners.Proficiency in basic computer and electronic health record systems for documentation and reporting.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina; BSN or advanced nursing degree preferred.Experience in supervisory or charge nurse roles, ideally in public health, community health, or similar environments.Ability to work on-site in Hillsborough, NC, with flexibility to respond to urgent clinical and operational needs.
