The Nursing and Wellness officer is responsible for managing the school sick room, providing first aid and basic medical care to students, maintaining health records, and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The role focuses on immediate care, health monitoring, and supporting student well-being within the branch and responsible for promoting wellness within the Organization.Key ResponsiblityClinical Care & First AidProvide immediate first aid and basic nursing care to students and staff for injuries, illnesses, and emergenciesConduct initial health assessments, including monitoring vital signs and identifying symptomsStabilize patients and arrange referrals to external healthcare providers or hospitals when necessarySchool Sick Room ManagementOversee the daily operations of the school sick room, ensuring it is clean, safe, and well-organizedMaintain adequate stock levels of medicines, first aid supplies, and medical equipmentEnsure proper infection control practices and hygiene standards within the sick roomMonitor and record student visits, treatments provided, and recovery progressProvide a safe and comfortable environment for unwell students until they are fit to return to class or are collected by guardiansStudent Health Monitoring & RecordsMaintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records of students and staffTrack students with chronic illnesses, allergies, or special medical conditions and ensure appropriate care plans are followedCommunicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns when requiredHealth Promotion & Wellness ProgramsPlan and conduct health awareness programs on hygiene, nutrition, mental well-being, and disease preventionOrganize health screenings, vaccination programs, and wellness initiativesPromote healthy habits and preventive healthcare among students and staffHealth Advisory & SupportProvide guidance to students and staff on physical and emotional well-beingOffer basic counseling and refer complex health or psychological concerns to appropriate professionalsEducate students on personal hygiene, safety, and healthy lifestyle practicesCompliance & CoordinationEnsure compliance with school health policies, safety standards, and relevant regulatory requirementsLiaise with parents, healthcare providers, and emergency services when neededSupport school emergency preparedness, including participation in drills and incident managementQualificationsDiploma or certificate in nursing or a related healthcare field.Valid first aid and CPR certification.A Registered Nurse qualification will be an added advantage.Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare, school nursing, child care, or a related field.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff.Compassionate, patient, and service-orientated approach.
