Team members benefit from working in a collaborative environment that supports professional development and evidence-based practice.Role Description The Nursing Education Specialist – Orthopedic Same Day Surgery Centers is a full-time, on-site role based in Minneapolis, MN. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering clinical education for nursing staff in orthopedic same day surgery settings, ensuring competencies in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing learning needs, creating educational materials, facilitating training sessions and simulations, and providing bedside clinical coaching to support safe, high-quality patient care. The specialist collaborates with nursing leadership, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based practices, support onboarding and orientation, and promote continuous professional development. Additional duties include evaluating educational outcomes, maintaining regulatory and accreditation standards, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives across the surgery centers.Qualifications Strong foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in orthopedic same day surgery settings.Demonstrated skills in Patient Care and Caregiving, including advocating for patient safety, comfort, and effective recovery.Excellent Communication skills for educating staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and engaging with patients and families.Current RN license in the state of Minnesota; BSN required, MSN or advanced degree in nursing education or related field preferred.Previous experience in orthopedic surgery, perioperative nursing, or ambulatory surgery centers, with a focus on staff education and clinical training.Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate educational programs, including use of adult learning principles and simulation-based training.Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to fostering a respectful, supportive learning environment for all team members.
