Occupational Health Physician

POSITION SUMMARY:The Occupational Health Physician is responsible for managing and delivering occupational health services to ensure the safety, health, and wellbeing of employees. The role supports compliance with company policies, local regulatory requirements (e.g., DOLE, OSH Standards), and RCG health initiatives.The physician provides medical assessment, fitness-for-work evaluation, case management, and advisory support to HR, management, and employees while maintaining strict medical confidentiality and ethical standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. CLINICAL SERVICES AND MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

• Conduct medical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for work-related and non-work-related illnesses.
• Review and validate medical certificates, particularly for prolonged or questionable absences. Provide fitness-for-work evaluations, including return-to-work clearance, sick leave validation, and work restrictions.
• Manage occupational and non-occupational cases, including chronic disease monitoring.
• Review and interpret APE results including risk stratification and medical clearance and ensure timely completion of APE documentation and reporting.Review and validate Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) results conducted by accredited third-party providers.
• Determine and issue final medical clearance, work restrictions, or recommendations based on job requirements and identified health risks.
• Coordinate with Talent Acquisition-Onboarding and external providers to ensure timely processing and proper documentation of PEME results.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and Data Privacy Act in handling and disclosure of medical information.2. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND COMPLIANCE AND HEALTH PROGRAMS
• Participate in incident investigations and recommend preventive measures.
• Participate in ensuring compliance with DOLE Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and company policies.
• Assess and manage work-related illnesses and injuries, including required documentation and reporting (e.g., WAIR, ECC).
• Participate in incident investigations and recommend preventive measures.
• Support regulatory compliance, audits, and reporting requirements.
• Support and participate in corporate wellness and health promotion programs.3. CASE MANAGEMENT AND ADVISORY ROLE
• Manage employees on prolonged sick leave and coordinate care with accredited providers.
• Provide medical evaluations for SSS sickness benefits, disability cases, and HMO utilization.
• Recommend work accommodations and restrictions as needed.
• Support Senior Manager in giving medical guidance to HR and business leaders on employee health matters while ensuring confidentiality.
• Participate in administrative proceedings, offering medical opinion when needed.4. EMERGENCY RESPONSE MANAGEMENT
• Deliver initial management of workplace medical emergencies.
• Provide immediate assessment, stabilization, and life-saving interventions (e.g., BLS, AED use) during workplace emergencies.
• Coordinate emergency transfer to hospitals, including ambulance activation and endorsement.
• Ensure readiness of clinic facilities, equipment, and emergency medications at all times.
• Support emergency response protocols, drills, and staff training in coordination with Safety teams.
• Document and review incidents, providing post-event recommendations for improvement.
• Assist in pandemic response and infectious disease management as needed.5. MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR RCG HEALTH
• Provide support for RCG Health projects (eg. Clinical research, outbreak support, training etc)
• Provide support for clinical audits and case reviews, as appropriate.
• Provide consultation and clinical support to public health team.
• Provide clinical support to Wellness Nurse NavigatorQUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an occupational health Physician, preferably in corporate clinic setting.
• Medical degree (licensed MD or equivalent), certified basic course on Occupational Medicine from a recognized university.
• Advanced degree in occupational medicine from a recognized university is an advantage.
• Experience in corporate clinic setting, BPO/shared services environment is an advantage.
• Amenable as an employee status, rotational schedules, and onsite clinic duties.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Possess high professional standards regarding customer service, integrity, ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Demonstrates solid clinical competence in diagnosis, fitness-for-work assessment, and interpretation of diagnostic results.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and principles, DOLE OSH standards, labor/disability regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and engage employees on health matters.
• Ability to be an independent problem-solver with minimal supervision.Proficient in medical documentation and report writing with accuracy and compliance.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and case management skills.
• Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external healthcare providers.
