About ARI ShippingARI Shipping is an established international freight forwarder with approximately 40 years in business. We specialize in providing high-touch, personalized service for customers moving international freight, including boats, agricultural and forestry machinery, heavy equipment, project cargo, and other specialized shipments.We are looking for an experienced Ocean Import/Export Coordinator to join our ocean operations team. This is a hands-on, A-to-Z operations position for someone who understands freight forwarding, communicates exceptionally well, stays organized, and can independently manage customer accounts and complex shipments.What You’ll DoCoordinate international ocean export and import shipments from origin through final deliveryManage RO/RO, breakbulk, project cargo, heavy equipment, machinery, and containerized shipmentsCoordinate cargo movement with ocean carriers, truckers, terminals, warehouses, overseas agents, vendors, and customersPrepare, review, and maintain accurate international shipping documentationMake carrier bookings and monitor cargo movement, schedules, deadlines, and releasesCoordinate export customs clearance and related documentationServe as the dedicated point of contact for assigned customersProvide proactive shipment updates and responsive, high-touch customer serviceTroubleshoot documentation, transportation, carrier, customs, terminal, and delivery issuesReview and approve vendor bills for accuracyMonitor shipment accruals, costs, customer billing, and other file-level financial detailsEnsure required customer payments are received before cargo is releasedMaintain organized and accurate shipment files from start to finishBuild strong, long-term relationships with assigned customersWhat We’re Looking ForPrior international freight forwarding operations experienceStrong ocean export operations experienceHands-on RO/RO (Roll-on/Roll-off) experienceExperience beyond standard FCL/containerized freightExperience with project, breakbulk, heavy equipment, machinery, or other specialized cargoAbility to independently manage international shipments and operational files A-to-ZStrong international shipping documentation knowledgeExcellent written and verbal communicationStrong organization and attention to detailProven ability to troubleshoot shipment issues and take ownership through resolutionAbility to communicate effectively with customers, carriers, vendors, overseas agents, and internal team membersPreferred QualificationsExport customs clearance experienceBreakbulk and project cargo experienceExperience shipping boats, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, forestry machinery, or similar cargoExperience with shipment billing, accruals, vendor invoices, and file-level financialsFreight forwarding/TMS system experienceSpanish language skills (not required but a strong plus!)Our ideal candidate is someone who:Communicates proactively with customers and business partnersTakes ownership of their accounts and shipmentsCan work independently without extensive day-to-day directionUnderstands how documentation, transportation, customs, customer service, and shipment financials work togetherRemains organized while managing multiple customers, deadlines, and shipmentsIs comfortable troubleshooting complex freight issuesValues delivering a premium level of customer serviceBenefitsBiannual performance bonus programHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k)Paid time off and holidaysCareer and compensation growth opportunitiesAdditional Job Application TermsThis job is part of LinkedIn’s Full-Service Hiring beta program.
