Ocean Import Specialist – International Freight Forwarding – New York (Onsite)Keywords: Ocean Imports, Freight Forwarding, Import Operations, CargoWise, Ocean Freight, Logistics OperationsAbout the CompanyWe are representing an internationally established freight forwarding provider with a strong global network and a growing presence across the U.S. market.Due to continued growth, the business is looking to strengthen its New York operations team with an experienced Ocean Import Specialist who can take ownership of international shipments from arrival through final delivery.About the RoleThis is a fully onsite position based in New York, focused on managing international ocean import shipments from start to finish.You'll be responsible for coordinating every stage of the import process, working closely with overseas offices, steamship lines, customs brokers, trucking companies, warehouses, and customers to ensure cargo moves efficiently and compliantly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their files and thrives in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage international ocean import shipments from A–ZCoordinate with overseas agents, steamship lines, customs brokers, trucking companies, and warehousesPrepare and review import documentation, ensuring accuracy and complianceArrange cargo release, customs clearance, and final deliveryMonitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates to customersResolve operational issues while maintaining a high level of customer serviceEnsure shipment files are maintained accurately within CargoWiseComplete billing, file management, and operational administration in a timely mannerBuild strong relationships with customers, overseas partners, and service providersEnsure all shipments are handled in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirementsCandidate RequirementsPrevious experience within ocean import freight forwarding operationsProven ability to manage ocean import shipments from A–ZCargoWise experience requiredStrong understanding of ocean freight documentation and U.S. import proceduresExperience working with steamship lines, customs brokers, truckers, warehouses, and overseas agentsExcellent communication and customer service skillsStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipment files simultaneouslyComfortable working in a fully onsite, team-oriented environmentWhat You Can Expect100% onsite role based in New YorkOpportunity to join a growing international freight forwarding organizationCollaborative operations team with strong internal supportExposure to global trade lanes and international import operationsLong-term career development within an established logistics business
