Room to Read is an organisation transforming the lives of millions of children by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.For more information about Room to Read India, please visit: www.roomtoreadindia.orgAbout Learning & Innovations Department:In line with RtR-India's commitment towards knowledge synthesis and sharing, the Learning & Innovations (L&I) Department undertakes efforts towards capturing insights and implementation evidence from our ongoing programs, spotlighting innovative practices within the wider education ecosystem and building strategic learning partnerships. In addition to rigorous learning documentation, which serves as knowledge resources for cross-teams and external stakeholders, L&I also prioritises enhancing the skills and capacity of our staff as well as disseminating these learnings effectively through organizing/participating in learning visits, conferences and workshops. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:The Officer, Learning and Innovations (L&I) will work closely with the Director, RME and engage at a strategic level with cross-functional teams at both national and state levels. The role will focus on collating learning from programme implementation processes, gathering evidence of knowledge transfer between the organisation and government systems, undertaking research, collaboration and knowledge sharing, facilitating knowledge exchange across internal teams, integrating external research and innovative ideas, and supporting learning dissemination through learning conferences, exposure visits and similar sharing/networking events.Key Job Responsibilities:(1) Planning and Coordination: Contribute to the planning of learning studies, creation of learning products, and coordination with national and state teams, as well as external agencies to ensure timely delivery of outputs.(2) Learning Captures: Capture program processes, innovative practices and pivotal learning principles from RtR interventions by employing qualitative research, field-visit and comprehensive stakeholder consultations.(3) Inter-team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-teams such as State, Program teams, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME) and Communications to ensure effective coordination of cross-functional learning initiatives.(4) Learning and Knowledge Products: Produce high-quality knowledge products elucidating the RtR approach, on-ground and systemic efforts through technical reports, policy briefs, and presentations.(5) Research and Sharing: Stay attuned to the latest national and global research pertaining to foundational literacy reform initiatives. Be proactive in sharing this knowledge with peers via a bibliographic database, informal discussions, contributions to email newsletters, and occasional blog posts including conducting secondary research and synthesize findings from existing evaluations and assessments.(6) Strategic Support: Contribute to solving key learning queries within the organization. Support the team in developing presentations for strategic reviews, leadership gatherings and interactions with funders.(7) Knowledge Hub: Support in building and maintaining a knowledge repository and knowledge hub in RtR program areas, such as language teaching-learning, scaling pathways, systems reforms, girls education program, life skills, etc.(8) Knowledge Dissemination: Curate and participate in networking and knowledge-sharing events, effectively infusing insights gleaned from RtR initiatives into the wider ecosystem.(9) Any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:Qualifications and Experience(1) Master's in education / social sciences / social work/ development studies, or equivalent from a reputable institution;(2) Entrepreneurial, results-driven teammate with 4-8 years of relevant experience;(3) Familiarity with various programs and organizations in the field of early-grade reading/literacy and gender, both in India and internationally;(4) Demonstrated ability to undertake, interpret and analyse qualitative research and collate reports in the form of compelling presentations and learning briefs;(5) Capacity to develop a deep and nuanced understanding of tailoring learning insights to the decision-making needs within RtR;(6) Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in languages spoken in states where RTR operates, such as Hindi, Telegu is a plus;(7) Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively and inclusively engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;(8) Willingness and aptitude for sharing knowledge, mentoring, presenting, and reviewing the work of peers;(9) Knowledge/ training in linguistics will be an added advantage.Skills and Competencies(1) Critical-thinking and analytical skills;(2) Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member;(3) A proven track record of achieving results;(4) Capacity to tailor learning insights to decision-making needs within RtR.5. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:The ideal candidate is a research- and learning-oriented education professional with 4–8 years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of foundational literacy, reading and/or gender-related programmes. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in qualitative research, capturing programme learning, synthesising evidence, developing high-quality knowledge products and translating insights into compelling presentations and learning briefs.The role is particularly suited to a collaborative, intellectually curious and results-driven professional who can work effectively with national and state teams, research and programme teams, communications colleagues and external stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable undertaking field visits and stakeholder consultations, facilitating knowledge exchange, contributing to strategic discussions and disseminating learning through conferences, workshops and other knowledge-sharing platforms.6.
