On-site Coach

Role Description The On-site Coach is a full-time role based in Abu Dhabi, supporting iGEM participants during program activities and events. The individual in this role will guide teams in project planning and execution, help them apply synthetic biology concepts responsibly, and provide daily mentoring on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. The On-site Coach will coordinate schedules, facilitate workshops or training sessions, and ensure teams have the resources they need to meet milestones and deliver high-quality work. This role also involves liaising with local partners and iGEM staff, monitoring participant progress, and promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment on-site.QualificationsStrong mentoring and coaching skills, with experience supporting student or early-career teams in scientific or technical projects.Solid understanding of synthetic biology or related fields (e.g., molecular biology, biotechnology), and ability to translate complex concepts into clear guidance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, constructive feedback, and conflict resolution.Organizational and coordination abilities, such as managing schedules, logistics, and multiple team priorities in a dynamic on-site setting.Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, respectful collaboration and the ability to work in culturally diverse, international environments.Adaptability and problem-solving skills to respond to evolving project needs and event conditions.Previous experience with competitions, educational programs, or academic coaching is highly beneficial.Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g., life sciences, engineering, education) or equivalent practical experience.Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an asset.Ability to be present on-site in Abu Dhabi for the full duration of the program and work occasional extended hours as needed.
