Apply & track with Apply EdgeOnline Medical TutorRemote | Part-time/FreelanceAbout the roleSHIFAYA is a specialist medical education platform supporting students who are preparing for and progressing through medicine.We are looking for knowledgeable and approachable medical tutors to deliver structured online support through one-to-one sessions and small groups. Depending on their background, tutors may support students with:High-school sciences in preparation for medicinePre-medical or foundation-level subjectsAnatomy, physiology, biochemistry and histologyPathology, pharmacology, microbiology and immunologyClinical reasoning and OSCE preparationTutors are not expected to teach every subject. Applicants should clearly identify the subjects and student levels they are confident teaching.This role sits within SHIFAYA’s growing international network of doctors, educators and healthcare professionals. Success means delivering reliable, well-prepared sessions that help students understand difficult concepts, develop effective study methods and become more confident, independent learners.ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging online lessons to individual students and small groups.Identify each student’s learning needs and adapt sessions accordingly.Explain complex medical and scientific concepts clearly and accurately.Prepare structured lessons, practice questions and supporting materials.Use evidence-informed learning methods, including active recall, retrieval practice and spaced learning.Encourage clinical reasoning and genuine understanding rather than memorisation alone.Provide constructive feedback and practical recommendations following sessions.Maintain brief and accurate records of attendance and student progress.Communicate professionally with students, parents and the SHIFAYA team when appropriate.Attend occasional tutor meetings, training or quality-review sessions.Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding standards.Deliver educational support ethically without completing assessed work for students or guaranteeing grades, admissions or examination outcomes.QualificationsA medical degree, relevant healthcare qualification or current enrolment as a senior medical student with strong academic standing.Strong knowledge of the subjects the applicant wishes to teach.Previous tutoring, teaching, peer-education or clinical-education experience is preferred.Excellent spoken and written English.Ability to explain difficult concepts in a clear, patient and supportive way.Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently.Confidence using Zoom or similar online teaching platforms.Access to a reliable internet connection, camera, microphone and suitable teaching environment.Familiarity with British or American educational pathways is an advantage.Willingness to complete identity, qualification, reference and safeguarding checks where required.SHIFAYA welcomes applicants from different backgrounds and is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive learning environment.
