The Onsite Machinist will perform precision machining activities on client equipment and components, including setup, alignment, and operation of portable and fixed machine tools. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting technical drawings, measuring and inspecting parts, performing in-situ repairs, and collaborating with engineers and technicians to execute maintenance and upgrade projects safely and efficiently. The role involves working at client facilities, supporting emergency breakdowns and planned shutdowns, maintaining accurate job documentation, and adhering to all safety and quality standards.Qualifications Strong technical machining skills, including operating lathes, milling machines, boring equipment, and other portable machining tools.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications, with solid mechanical aptitude.Experience in onsite or field machining, mechanical repair, or maintenance work within industrial or heavy engineering environments.Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to verify tolerances and quality.Commitment to safety practices, risk assessment, and compliance with site and company safety procedures.Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and client representatives.Ability to work in demanding field conditions, including travel to client sites, shift work, and occasional extended hours.Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in machining, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.Prior experience in heavy industry sectors (such as power generation, oil and gas, marine, or manufacturing) is an advantage.Basic computer skills for reporting, documentation, and use of digital tools; English language proficiency preferred.
