Operations Manager – Major Site Relocation & Operational TransformationMidlands | £70,000 + Generous Profit Share + Company Car + Excellent BenefitsThis is not a typical Operations Manager role.We are recruiting for an established and successful B2B organisation embarking on a significant period of investment and operational transformation.At the heart of this appointment is a major project: bringing two established UK operations together into a brand-new, state-of-the-art warehousing and operations facility in the Midlands.We are looking for an experienced operational leader who has been through this before.Someone who understands the challenges of relocating or consolidating an operational business – moving stock, equipment, systems and people while maintaining service levels and keeping the business running.Once the relocation is successfully completed, you will take responsibility for the ongoing operational performance of the business, managing all operational functions outside of sales.The RoleInitially, you will take a leading role in planning and delivering the relocation and consolidation programme, including:Developing and managing the operational relocation planCoordinating the movement of stock, equipment, people and processesEnsuring business continuity throughout the transitionManaging operational risks and contingency planningHelping design warehouse layouts, workflows and processes for the new facilityWorking with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholdersEstablishing KPIs and performance standards for the new operationManaging the people and cultural challenges associated with significant changeFollowing the relocation, your remit will include:Warehousing and distributionLogistics and transportInventory and stock controlHealth & SafetyOperational budgets and cost controlPeople leadership and developmentOperational KPIs and performanceContinuous improvementLean / Six Sigma methodologiesProcess improvement and operational efficiencyWho Are We Looking For?The key requirement is previous experience of successfully managing a significant site relocation, consolidation, start-up or operational transformation.Your background could potentially be within:Industrial Distribution | Manufacturing | Engineering | Electrical Products | Construction Products | Building Materials | Technical Wholesale | LogisticsMore important than the exact sector is your ability to demonstrate that you have successfully led a complex operational environment through significant change.You are likely to have experience managing substantial warehousing, distribution, manufacturing or logistics operations and will understand the importance of inventory management, customer service, productivity, cost control and Health & Safety.Experience of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies would be highly advantageous.Above all, we are looking for a strong operational leader – someone who can think strategically, manage a major transformation project and still be comfortable getting into the detail when required.The OpportunityThis is an unusual opportunity to join a successful and established business at a pivotal point in its development.Rather than inheriting an operation and simply maintaining it, you will have the opportunity to help create the new operation, shape how it works and then lead it going forward.Salary: 70,000Generous Profit shareCompany CarExcellent BenefitsLocation: MidlandsIf you are an experienced Operations Manager, Head of Operations, General Manager, Distribution Centre Manager or senior operational leader who has successfully managed a major site relocation or consolidation, we would be very interested in hearing from you.To apply, please email a copy of your CV to Darren Dewrance of Aaron Wallis darren.dewrance@aaronwallis.co.uk
