Operations Manager / Future COO

MITS Capital is looking for an Operations Manager / Future COO for one of its portfolio companies in the defense technology sector. The company’s identity is confidential and protected under an NDA.About the RoleWe are looking for an Operations Manager to take ownership of the company's business processes, including procurement, finance, document management, grant reporting, and team administration.You will be the first dedicated operations professional on the team, working directly with the CEO and founders to build operational processes practically from scratch.The role offers an opportunity to grow into the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) within 12–18 months as the company transitions to serial production.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement and International Trade: Identify suppliers, negotiate terms, purchase components and equipment, and manage imports, customs clearance, and logistics.Finance: Manage budgets, monitor expenses, maintain management accounting, and coordinate outsourced accounting services.Grants: Administer grant funding, monitor the appropriate use of funds, and prepare required reports.Legal Support: Manage contracts with suppliers, contractors, and partners, NDAs, and corporate documentation.Investors: Prepare financial data and documentation for due diligence and communicate with investors and partners.Team and Processes: Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, document management, internal workflows, and administrative matters.Production Preparation: Manage component inventory, warehouse operations, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and procurement planning for serial production.Requirements3+ years of experience in operations, finance, or project management.Hands-on experience in procurement, imports, and supplier management.Understanding of finance, budgeting, financial accounting, and management accounting.Experience working with contracts, grants, or regulatory reporting.Strong proficiency in Google Sheets / Excel and process management tools.English proficiency at B2 level or above.Independence, a structured approach, and the ability to organize work in a fast-growing and uncertain environment.Nice to HaveExperience in defense tech, hardware, or manufacturing startups.Knowledge of dual-use imports, defense procurement, and codification procedures.Experience in fundraising, due diligence, or grant financing.Understanding of manufacturing processes, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supply chain management.What We OfferAn opportunity to build the operational infrastructure of a technology company from scratch, directly influence its development, and grow into the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) as production scales.Full-time employment in a great office located in the historic center of Kyiv.
