Position Description:Performs patient examinations and tests to evaluate vision and look for eye issues and disorders. Evaluates, detects, and diagnoses Amblyopia, Diplopia, Genetic Disorders of the eye, Complex Pediatric, and Adult Strabismus, and other eye movement conditions.Position Responsibility:Performs patient examinations and tests to evaluate vision and look for eye issues and disorders.Evaluates, detects, and diagnoses amblyopia, diplopia, genetic disorders of the eye, complex paediatric and adult strabismus, and other eye movement conditions.Creates treatment plans for patients with eye movement problems and binocular vision.Works with ophthalmologists with surgical planning of some eye movement disorders.Facilitates patients to understand their eye disorders and treatment plans.Measures patient vision using optometry technology and instruments, and determines the need for vision correction in the form of prescription glasses or contact lenses.Examines the underlying causes of vision and visual field impairments.Develops comprehensive treatment plans, which may encompass prescribing eye patches, eye exercises, or employing prisms.Performs Visual Acuity Testing, Auto refractometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, and Lensometry.Prescribes appropriate procedures and medications as necessary such as Refraction, Retinoscopy, Orthoptic Assessment, Amblyopia Therapy, Prescribing Prismatic Glasses etc.Refers to patients for further diagnostic tests or investigations when required.Collaborates effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Monitors patients' treatment progress and overall condition.Undertakes essential administrative duties pertinent to patient care.Contributes to ongoing service improvement initiatives and participates in audits.Position Qualification:Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Optometry or Doctor of OptometryDubai Health Authority (DHA) licensePROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Optometrist.Knowledge of Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies, and implementation of clinical practice guidelines, protocols, and pathways.Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards.
