Senior Oracle / MS SQL Server DBA – BSSOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to provide L2 database support across a mission-critical enterprise BSS managed services environment.The role will focus on the availability, performance, integrity and security of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting Ericsson Billing and wider BSS applications.The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on Oracle 19c expertise, particularly RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN and performance tuning. Experience supporting Ericsson Billing/BSCS database environments would be highly advantageous.ResponsibilitiesAdminister Oracle 19c+ and Microsoft SQL Server 2017/2019 production environments.Monitor database health and proactively identify performance and capacity issues.Troubleshoot L2 incidents including ORA errors, lock contention, space issues, SQL deadlocks and performance degradation.Manage Oracle RAC and Data Guard HA/DR environments.Support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.Perform query optimisation, index management, statistics maintenance and execution plan analysis.Manage Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backup and restore operations.Administer Oracle ASM, tablespaces and database storage capacity.Apply Oracle Critical Patch Updates and SQL Server service packs through established change processes.Manage database users, roles, privileges, encryption and auditing.Support schema changes, data migrations and database performance tuning alongside BSS application teams.Participate in DR testing and database failover/switchover exercises.Maintain database documentation, configuration records and CMDB information.Respond to database incidents escalated from L1/NOC teams.Required Skills8–12 years’ experience in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server database administration.Expert Oracle 19c knowledge, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, partitioning and performance tuning.Strong SQL Server knowledge, including Always On AG, SQL Agent and T-SQL.Oracle performance diagnostics using AWR, ADDM and ASH.SQL Server performance analysis using Query Store.Strong PL/SQL and T-SQL scripting capability.Hands-on backup, restore, HA and DR experience.Database security knowledge including TDE, auditing and privilege management.ITIL awareness covering incident and change management.Strong written and spoken English.Nice to HaveEricsson Billing / BSCS database experience.Wider Ericsson BSS exposure including EOC, ECM or Ericsson Mediation.Microsoft Dynamics CRM or SharePoint SQL Server experience.Vertica and Talend exposure.Commvault backup integration experience.Oracle Certified Professional certification.Relevant Microsoft SQL Server certification.Why Apply?This is an opportunity to work within a complex, mission-critical telecoms BSS environment supporting high-availability database platforms across billing, order management, CRM, mediation and reporting workloads.The position offers significant exposure to enterprise Oracle and SQL Server HA/DR, performance optimisation and large-scale operational database support.How to ApplyIf you have strong Oracle production DBA experience and a background supporting complex enterprise or telecoms/BSS platforms, please apply with your latest CV for further details.
