OT In-Charge (Operation Theatre)

We are seeking an experienced and competent OT In-Charge to manage and supervise the overall functioning of the Operation Theatre department at Dorika Hospital, Tezpur. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth OT operations, patient safety, infection control, staff management, surgical preparedness, inventory management, and adherence to hospital policies and clinical protocols.

Nursing/M.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.Valid nursing registration with the respective Nursing Council.Additional certification/training in Operation Theatre Management, Infection Control, or Critical Care will be an advantage.Experience:Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Operation Theatre services.Candidates with prior experience as OT In-Charge / OT Supervisor / Senior OT Nurse will be preferred.Experience in a multi-specialty hospital is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Operation Theatre.Ensure OT readiness for all scheduled and emergency surgeries.Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff and other departments.Supervise OT nurses, technicians and support staff.Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.Ensure proper sterilization, disinfection and aseptic practices.Maintain and monitor OT instruments, equipment, consumables and emergency supplies.Coordinate with CSSD for timely availability of sterilized instruments and sets.Monitor OT schedules and minimize delays/cancellations due to operational issues.Ensure compliance with surgical safety checklists and patient-safety protocols.Maintain OT registers, records, checklists and other required documentation.Monitor inventory and ensure appropriate stock levels of medicines, consumables and surgical supplies.Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.Coordinate preventive maintenance and servicing of OT equipment.Train, supervise and evaluate OT staff.Conduct regular departmental audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.Handle emergency OT situations and ensure proper escalation when required.Ensure compliance with hospital quality standards and applicable statutory requirements.Prepare departmental reports and provide updates to hospital management.Required SkillsStrong knowledge of OT procedures and nursing practices.Excellent understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols.Strong leadership and team-management abilities.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to coordinate multiple surgeries and manage a high-pressure environment.Good knowledge of surgical instruments, OT equipment and consumables.Strong organizational, documentation and problem-solving skills.Commitment to patient safety and quality of care.Preferred Candidate Profile:Qualification: GNM / B.Sc.
