Company Description Located in Asheville, NC, Helpmate, Inc. partners with the Buncombe County community to eliminate abuse and fear by providing safety, shelter, and support for victims and survivors of intimate partner domestic violence. Our free, confidential services for survivors of intimate partner domestic violence and their children include a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, case management, housing assistance, child and family advocacy, court advocacy, free licensed counseling, and community-based prevention work. Helpmate focuses on promoting healthy relationships and creating systems that respond effectively to the needs of survivors, while collaborating with allies and policymakers to improve protections and resources.Role Description The Outreach Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Asheville, NC. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering community outreach activities, including presentations, workshops, and events that raise awareness about intimate partner domestic violence and available Helpmate services. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with community partners, service providers, educational institutions, and local organizations. Day-to-day tasks include responding to outreach requests, developing educational materials, supporting training initiatives for community members and partners, and gathering feedback to improve outreach strategies. The Outreach Coordinator also assists with data collection and reporting, collaborates closely with program staff to ensure consistent messaging, and represents Helpmate at community meetings and events.QualificationsStrong Communication skills, including clear public speaking, active listening, and professional written communication.Experience in Community Outreach and engagement, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.Customer Service skills, with a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach when interacting with community members and partners.Research skills to gather data, assess community needs, and inform outreach strategies and educational materials.Training skills to develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and educational sessions for diverse audiences.Understanding of intimate partner domestic violence, survivor advocacy, and principles of trauma-informed care.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, word processing, presentations) and comfort with learning new tools.Bachelor’s degree in social work, communications, public health, education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events and outreach activities.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: Starting salary ranges from $52,700 to $57,700 annually, based on relevant professional experience. Helpmate provides experience-based salary incentives for up to 10 years of relevant experience.Bilingual Pay Differential: Employees who demonstrate qualifying bilingual fluency receive an additional 10% pay differential.
