JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE:Overnight Housekeeper / Concierge- 11pm to 7amPOSITION TITLES:May also be referred to as: Overnight Concierge, Night Attendant, Housekeeping ConciergeDEPARTMENT: Administration – Home OperationsJOB FUNCTION:Administration / Housekeeping / Resident SupportREPORTING RELATIONSHIP:Site Leader or DesignateJOB SUMMARY:Reporting to and supporting the Site Leader, the Overnight Housekeeper/Concierge is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and security of the Park Place Home during overnight hours. This role combines housekeeping, front desk coverage, and emergency response.The Overnight Housekeeper/Concierge is often working independently and must demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, and initiative. They are responsible for responding to resident and building emergencies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and providing reception support as required.This position supports Park Place Seniors Living’s commitment to resident safety and contributes to a culture of safety at all times.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties may include, but are not limited to:Resident & Building SafetyResponds promptly and appropriately to resident emergencies, including medical alerts, falls, and urgent requestsResponds to building-related emergencies such as fire alarms, floods, or security concerns, following established proceduresMonitors security systems, cameras, and alerts; conducts regular building checksEnsures all incidents are documented and reported according to policyActs as the primary on-site contact overnight for residents, families, and emergency servicesHousekeeping & Cleaning DutiesCompletes assigned nightly cleaning tasks, including:Mopping floors (main areas, hallways, common spaces)Vacuuming carpets and rugsCleaning and sanitizing public washroomsGarbage removal and waste managementCleaning common areas (e.g., card room, lounge, reception area)Ensures cleaning supplies are stocked and stored properlyMaintains cleanliness standards in accordance with infection control and safety policiesIdentifies and reports maintenance or sanitation concernsReception & Administrative SupportAnswers and directs phone calls and responds to inquiries as requiredProvides limited front desk/reception coverage overnightDocuments shift activity, incidents, and completed tasks in communication logs or reportsMaintains accurate and up-to-date records as requiredSupports communication between departments by relaying important informationGeneral ResponsibilitiesWorks independently while maintaining communication with on-call leadership when requiredDemonstrates professionalism, reliability, and accountabilityMaintains strict confidentiality of all resident and organizational informationParticipates in orientation, training, and in-services as requiredPerforms other related duties as assignedHEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:Adheres to all Park Place Occupational Health and Safety policies and proceduresUses safe work practices and proper body mechanics when performing cleaning dutiesTakes every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of residents, self, and othersReports hazards, incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediatelyWorks safely in an overnight/working-alone environmentQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Grade 12 education or equivalentPrevious experience in housekeeping, concierge, or customer service preferredExperience in a seniors living or healthcare environment is an assetBasic computer skills requiredOccupational First Aid Level 1 (or willingness to obtain, as per Park Place standards)SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong communication skills (verbal and written English)Ability to work independently with sound judgment, especially in emergency situationsGood organizational and time management skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize between cleaning and urgent situationsDemonstrated reliability and accountabilityAbility to maintain professionalism in stressful or emergency situationsAbility to work effectively as part of a team environmentPhysical ability to perform cleaning dutiesMust have a clear Criminal Record CheckEQUIPMENT USED:Cleaning equipment (mop, vacuum, cleaning tools and chemicals)Computer, phone systemSecurity systems and monitoring devicesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reachingAbility to lift up to 30 lbsExtended periods of independent work, including overnight shiftsAbility to respond quickly to emergenciesHEALTH AND SAFETY RISKS – ENVIRONMENTPhysical:Strain from lifting, bending, repetitive cleaning tasks.Environmental:Working alone, night shift conditions, exposure to dust and cleaning environments.Chemical:Exposure to cleaning products.Biological:Exposure to communicable illnesses (e.g., colds, influenza, GI).
