Your new role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Packaging & Sustainability Advisor to join a leading Not for Profit organisation focused on sustainability, packaging innovation, and regulatory compliance.Reporting to the Packaging Technology Manager, you will provide expert guidance on packaging design, recyclability, waste reduction, and evolving packaging legislation. You will work closely with member organisations and industry stakeholders, delivering technical consultancy, training, and support to help businesses achieve their sustainability goals.Your responsibilities Partner with organisations to review and assess their packaging portfolios, identifying opportunities to reduce packaging waste and improve recyclability. Conduct technical packaging audits and provide practical recommendations on plastic reduction, lightweight, and the transition to more sustainable packaging materials. Advise stakeholders on Design for Recycling (DfR) principles, helping businesses improve packaging performance within a circular economy framework.Provide guidance on packaging regulations, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), eco-modulated fees, and plastic levy requirements. Develop and deliver technical workshops, webinars, and best-practice resources to support member engagement and knowledge sharing.Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and sustainability trends to provide informed technical advice to members. Build strong relationships with stakeholders across industry, supporting organisations on their journey towards more sustainable packaging solutions.What you'll need to succeed This role would suit an experienced packaging professional passionate about sustainability, circular economy initiatives, and helping organisations make meaningful improvements to their environmental impact A degree in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Sustainable Development, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.At least 3 years' experience in a packaging, sustainability, materials, manufacturing, or related technical role.Strong understanding of plastic packaging, polymers, recycling technologies, and circular economy principles. Knowledge of packaging legislation and regulatory frameworks, including PPWR and wider sustainability initiatives.Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach to problem-solving. Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with experience delivering training sessions, workshops, or technical guidance. A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
