Company Description Colesville Volunteer Ambulance Service (CVAS) provides emergency medical care and transport to the visitors and residents of Harpursville, NY, and surrounding communities. The team responds to 911 calls and offers on-site standby coverage for local events to ensure prompt, reliable care when emergencies occur. CVAS is rooted in community service, working closely with local partners to support public safety and health. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based at our station in Harpursville, NY, wherein you will be responsible for delivering advanced life support and emergency medical care in a fairly rural (but beautiful) setting. Day-to-day duties include responding to 911 calls, including assessing patients, performing appropriate interventions, and safely transporting these patients to appropriate medical facilities. The role involves operating and maintaining ambulance equipment to ensure readiness of vehicles and supplies, documenting patient care accurately, and communicating clearly with patients, families, dispatch, and receiving medical staff. You may also participate in on-site standbys at community events, e.g., races, festivals, sports games, etc., assist with trainings and drills, and support continuous quality improvement. QualificationsCurrent state paramedic certification/licensure and completion of an accredited paramedic program.Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, advanced life support, and emergency medical interventions.Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.Ability to remain calm under pressure, make sound clinical decisions, and follow established protocols.Physical capability to lift, move, and transport patients and equipment safely; valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and adherence to all safety and regulatory standards.Experience in EMS or related healthcare settings and familiarity with rural or small-community emergency response are beneficial but not required.
