Job SummaryThe paramedic has the responsibility and accountability for assuring the delivery of interhospital and intrahospital care to patients of all ages using proper techniques and following the standards of care as established by Indiana Department of Homeland Security - EMS Division, and the Riverview Health EMS Medical Director(s).Job ResponsibilitiesProvide all necessary care to patients during inter-facility transport, including but not limited to: Ongoing assessment of the primary survey (i.e. ABCD), administration or maintenance of protocol-based or physician-ordered medications, cardiac and respiratory monitoring, provision of care if status deterioratesCollaborate with medical director(s), Riverview Health interdisciplinary teams, and Organizational Improvement to ensure optimal patient outcomes and enhancement of the patient experienceCommunicate effectively with patients and their families as well as other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare teamComplete all required documentation for transport patient care and billing purposesMaintain readiness of ambulance vehicle at all times, to include sufficient medical oxygen, functioning of equipment, and stocking of suppliesParticipate in ongoing education and performance improvement initiatives as required by state law and/or as assigned by hospital managementOther duties as assignedEducation RequirementsMinimum: Completion of state-approved and CAAHEP-accredited paramedic training programLicense/Certification RequirementsMinimum:Current Paramedic licensureBasic Life Support Program (BLS) ProviderAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) ProviderPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ProviderEmergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) – Must have or obtain within 6 months of hireValid Indiana Driver's license and driving record that meets organizational requirements to drive a RVH owned vehiclePreferred:Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C)Required:Experience RequirementsTwo (2) years of experience as a paramedic with an ambulance serviceEducationPreferredGED or better in OtherHigh School or better in OtherLicenses & CertificationsRequiredBLS- Basic Life SupportDriver LicenseParamedicPreferredACLSPALSEqual Opportunity EmployerThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
