Job Title: Paraprofessional / Student Support Specialist Start Date: ImmediatelyPosition Overview:Creative Arts Charter School (CACS) is seeking a compassionate, flexible, and collaborative Paraprofessional / Student Support Specialist to support students in our TK–8 program.

Depending on school and student needs, this position may include providing individualized (1:1) support, small-group instruction, classroom support, or assistance across multiple learning environments.Working closely with classroom teachers, the Inclusion Team, specialists, and school leadership, the Paraprofessional helps ensure students are safe, engaged, and able to access learning throughout the school day. This role requires patience, adaptability, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and joyful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized (1:1), small-group, classroom, or school-wide support based on student and program needs.Assist students in accessing academic instruction, classroom routines, school activities, and transitions throughout the day.Support implementation of IEP accommodations, behavior support plans, and safety plans under the guidance of certificated staff.Foster student independence by supporting self-advocacy, problem-solving, executive functioning, and positive peer relationships while providing the level of support needed for success.Utilize restorative practices, positive behavior support strategies, and de-escalation techniques to promote student success and well-being.Help build an inclusive classroom community by facilitating positive peer interactions and meaningful student participation.Collaborate with teachers, the Inclusion Team, specialists, related service providers, and families to support student growth.Assist with recess, lunch, transitions, field trips, school events, and other assigned duties.Maintain accurate documentation as requested and participate in team meetings and professional learning.Uphold the mission, values, and policies of Creative Arts Charter School.

Qualifications

Required:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience working with children in schools, childcare, camps, community programs, or related settings.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.Ability to perform active supervision throughout the school day.PreferredAssociate's degree or coursework in education, child development, psychology, or a related field.Experience supporting students with disabilities and/or implementing IEP accommodations.Knowledge of restorative practices, Responsive Classroom, or other relationship-centered approaches.Experience with positive behavior supports and de-escalation strategies.Bilingual (especially Spanish).Working Conditions:This is a full-time position with hours corresponding to the school day.The role may require physical activity, including standing, walking, and assisting with student mobility.Must be able to respond quickly in situations that require immediate attention or de-escalation.Additional Info: We work in partnership with the district.
