Job Description

We are seeking a part-time Lecturer in Games Development to deliver high-quality teaching across both the design and programming strands of our Games Development programme. The successful candidate will contribute to unit delivery, assessment, and student support, helping students develop the practical and creative skills needed for careers in the games industry. The role includes the following key responsibilities: Quality of Learning & Teaching – The effective delivery of modules within SAE courses Collegial Practice – Building capacity within the organisation via active participation with peers and colleagues. Pastoral Care – Engagement of students Qualifications: ● Bachelor's degree in computer science, games development, or a related discipline from a recognised university. ● A Master's degree in computer science, games development, or a related discipline from a recognised university (or working towards one) Essential Skills & Experience: ● Excellent command of spoken and written English ● Excellent communication and mentoring skills ● Ability to teach effectively across both creative and technical aspects of game development ● Relevant industry experience in game development (design and/or programming) ● Strong working knowledge of game design principles and programming languages/engines (e.g. C#, C++, Unity, Unreal) ● Strong knowledge of OOP design principles ● Familiarity with software engineering principles, UML, and design patterns. ● Familiarity with current industry standards in smaller and large-scale productions (e.g. AAA, Indie) ● Portfolio of game projects ● Commitment to stay current with industry tools, engines, and practices (e.g. Unity, Unreal Engine) ● Strong knowledge of at least one of these subjects: ○ Game design ○ Mobile development ○ Game studio management ○ Network programming Experience: ● Previous university-level teaching experience in both game design and game programming ● Recognised teaching qualification or HEA fellowship ● Experience with agile development methodologies and leading a team. ● Mobile games/app development experience. ● Experience with Blender / 3DS Max / 3d Modeling tools.
