Pediatric Respiratory Therapist

Formal qualification in Respiratory Therapy, with a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy, or bachelor’s degree in nursing followed by a postgraduate qualification in Respiratory Therapy.Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist/Respiratory Care Practitioner.Demonstrated pediatric respiratory care experience Recent and relevant experience caring for pediatric patients in inpatient, emergency, PICU and/or pediatric respiratory settings.Demonstrated competency in pediatric respiratory assessment and management, including oxygen therapy, HFNC, nebulized/aerosol therapy, airway clearance techniques and suctioning.Demonstrated experience with non-invasive respiratory support, including CPAP/BiPAP, and familiarity with invasive mechanical ventilation and ventilator monitoring.Competency in pediatric airway management, including tracheostomy/airway care, airway emergencies, intubation assistance, and emergency response.Current BLS, PALS certification, NRP certification Demonstrated ability to perform and/or support pulmonary function testing relevant to pediatric patients, including spirometry and bronchodilator response testing, where applicable.Experience with pediatric respiratory diagnostic and monitoring equipment, including pulse oximetry, blood gas analysis and PFT equipment.Ability to provide respiratory education to children and their families, including inhaler/nebulizer technique, airway clearance and home respiratory equipment where applicable.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary pediatric team and communicate appropriately with physicians, nurses, patients and families.Experience in an outpatient pediatric respiratory/pulmonary setting would be highly relevant given the scope of the department.
