This role serves as a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for performance testing, reliability engineering, resilience validation, automation, and continuous optimization. Working closely with Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, and application teams, you will help ensure systems remain scalable, resilient, and performance-ready throughout the software development lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage enterprise-wide performance engineering programs supporting web, mobile, commerce, payments, loyalty, and customer-facing platforms.Establish performance engineering standards, governance models, testing strategies, and performance readiness requirements across the SDLC.Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity testing initiatives.Define workload models, service-level objectives (SLOs), service-level indicators (SLIs), performance baselines, and success metrics.Analyze application, database, infrastructure, and integration-layer bottlenecks using observability and monitoring platforms.Partner with development, architecture, DevOps, and SRE teams to optimize application performance and system reliability.Embed automated performance validation into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.Implement performance quality gates, baseline validations, and threshold-based release controls.Lead resilience and reliability testing efforts, including chaos engineering, fault injection, latency simulation, and recovery validation exercises.Support production incident investigations, root cause analysis, and performance optimization initiatives.Provide performance risk assessments and evidence-based go/no-go recommendations for production releases.Develop executive-level dashboards, reports, and performance insights for technical and business stakeholders.Integrate AI-assisted capabilities into performance planning, test generation, analysis, and optimization workflows while maintaining governance and quality standards.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, operational excellence, and engineering productivity.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.5-7+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, Non-Functional Testing, Site Reliability Engineering, or related disciplines.Strong expertise with enterprise performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, OctoPerf, or similar platforms.Experience analyzing performance metrics across applications, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and distributed systems.Hands-on experience with observability, monitoring, and application performance management solutions.Experience integrating performance testing and validation into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar languages.Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid architectures.Understanding of reliability engineering principles and modern software delivery practices.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical findings into business impact.Preferred QualificationsExperience in high-volume digital commerce, retail, hospitality, consumer applications, or transaction-intensive environments.Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), error budgets, and reliability-focused delivery models.Experience conducting chaos engineering and resilience testing initiatives.Familiarity with API performance testing, contract testing, and distributed systems validation.Experience supporting mobile applications, kiosk platforms, payment systems, or embedded technologies.Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools and validating AI-generated outputs.Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed platform ecosystems.Key SkillsPerformance EngineeringLoad TestingStress TestingScalability TestingReliability EngineeringChaos EngineeringSite Reliability Engineering (SRE)CI/CD IntegrationDevOpsJMeterk6LoadRunnerDynatraceApplication Performance Monitoring (APM)AWSAzurePythonJavaJavaScriptAI-Assisted Engineering
