Our teams collaborate across process engineering, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, operations, maintenance, projects, asset integrity, HSE, procurement, and commercial functions to optimize complex petrochemical facilities throughout their lifecycle.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Petrochemical Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering activities across petrochemical plants, production facilities, process units, utilities, and supporting infrastructure.The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership for engineering studies, plant optimization, modifications, projects, reliability improvements, process safety, technical assurance, and lifecycle asset performance while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and operational requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement engineering strategies aligned with petrochemical production, reliability, safety, quality, and business objectives.Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, structural, materials, and related disciplines.Provide technical leadership for petrochemical plant engineering studies, modifications, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.Review plant performance and identify opportunities to improve capacity, efficiency, reliability, energy consumption, and product quality.Evaluate process bottlenecks, operating constraints, equipment limitations, and production losses.Lead technical studies for debottlenecking, capacity expansion, process optimization, and plant modernization.Review process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, engineering calculations, and technical documentation.Ensure engineering designs are technically sound, practical, maintainable, and aligned with operational requirements.Coordinate engineering support for process units, utilities, storage systems, offsites, and infrastructure.Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to resolve technical problems and improve plant performance.Provide engineering support for production issues, equipment failures, process deviations, and operational constraints.Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis for recurring process and equipment problems.Develop corrective and preventive engineering solutions and monitor their implementation.Manage engineering input into planned shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance campaigns, and major inspections.Review equipment condition, reliability data, operating history, and maintenance findings to identify engineering improvements.Support asset integrity programs covering pressure equipment, piping, tanks, rotating equipment, structures, and corrosion systems.Ensure appropriate materials selection, corrosion control, inspection, and mechanical integrity requirements are incorporated into engineering solutions.Lead engineering activities for new petrochemical projects, brownfield modifications, expansions, and facility upgrades.Establish engineering scopes, technical requirements, design criteria, specifications, and deliverables for projects.Coordinate FEED, detailed engineering, design reviews, constructability reviews, commissioning, and start-up activities.Review contractor and engineering-consultant deliverables for quality, technical compliance, and completeness.Manage technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, project teams, operations, maintenance, vendors, and external stakeholders.Ensure engineering changes are properly evaluated, documented, approved, and implemented through management-of-change processes.Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, PSSR, risk assessments, and other process-safety activities as appropriate.Ensure engineering solutions address process safety, equipment integrity, operability, maintainability, and emergency requirements.Review relief systems, safeguarding systems, containment, hazardous-area requirements, and other critical engineering considerations.Evaluate process equipment including reactors, columns, heat exchangers, furnaces, boilers, pumps, compressors, tanks, piping, and associated systems.Support process optimization involving feedstock quality, reaction conditions, separation, heat integration, utilities, and product specifications.Analyze mass balances, energy balances, process constraints, equipment performance, and production data.Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, heat recovery, water use, utility consumption, and overall plant economics.Support development and evaluation of process simulations, engineering models, digital twins, and advanced analytics.Evaluate new technologies, process improvements, automation solutions, advanced materials, and energy-efficiency opportunities.Develop engineering business cases covering capital requirements, operating savings, production increases, risk reduction, and return on investment.Support capital planning, project prioritization, cost estimation, and technical investment decisions.Monitor engineering project budgets, schedules, technical risks, changes, and delivery milestones.Manage engineering contractors, technology licensors, equipment suppliers, consultants, and specialist service providers.Define technical scopes, performance requirements, quality standards, and acceptance criteria for external engineering services.Monitor supplier and contractor performance, technical quality, schedule adherence, and compliance.Ensure engineering documentation, drawings, calculations, specifications, manuals, and records are accurately controlled.Establish engineering standards, design practices, technical procedures, and lessons-learned processes.Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, company specifications, and technical requirements.Support regulatory inspections, technical audits, certification activities, and authority interactions.Develop engineering risk registers and mitigation plans for critical plant and project risks.Establish contingency plans for major technical failures, process disruptions, equipment constraints, and emergency conditions.Develop and maintain engineering performance dashboards and technical reports.Train, coach, and develop engineers and technical specialists across relevant disciplines.Promote engineering excellence, technical innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.Provide senior management with engineering management, or industrial process operations, preferably within petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, or other complex process industries.The candidate should demonstrate:Proven experience managing engineering activities in petrochemical or process plants.Strong understanding of petrochemical processes, production systems, utilities, and plant infrastructure.Strong knowledge of process engineering, equipment design, plant optimization, and technical problem solving.Experience with reactors, distillation systems, heat exchangers, furnaces, boilers, pumps, compressors, tanks, piping, and process systems.Strong understanding of process safety, asset integrity, reliability, and engineering risk management.Experience with HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, MOC, PSSR, and related technical assurance processes.Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating multiple technical disciplines.Strong knowledge of engineering design reviews, FEED, detailed engineering, commissioning, and start-up.Experience supporting brownfield modifications, plant expansions, debottlenecking, and modernization projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Experience with process simulation, engineering analysis, data analytics, or digital engineering tools.Strong understanding of energy efficiency, utilities optimization, and process economics.Experience managing engineering consultants, contractors, technology licensors, OEMs, and suppliers.Strong project-management, budgeting, forecasting, and resource-management skills.Ability to evaluate capital investments and engineering solutions using lifecycle economics.
