Apply & track with Apply EdgeLooking for an ICU pharmacist with at least a BCPS and/or BCCCP certification to work in our three unit (two MICU, one SICU) intensive care unit!Medical rounds: Attend daily team rounds with physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists to recommend and optimize drug treatments on the spot.Adjust drug dosing: Calculate and change medication doses based on a patient's changing kidney function, liver function, and lab work.Manage high-risk medications: Oversee critical drugs such as vasopressors, sedatives, pain relievers, insulin, and parenteral nutrition.Drive sepsis and antimicrobial stewardship: Lead ASP efforts to pick the right antimicrobials quickly for severe infections like sepsis.Respond to emergencies: Actively participate in during acute crises like cardiac arrests, severe allergic reactions, or RSIs.Prevent medication errors: Review complex orders to catch dangerous drug interactions, high-acuity calculation mistakes, adverse side effects, and optimize pharmacotherapy.The pharmacist will join a clinical pharmacy department comprised of internal medicine, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine to also teach APPE students, PGY1 (ASHP-accredited) residents, and internal medicine physician residents annually.Bakersfield is positioned at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley.
