Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Chair of Imaging and Computer Vision (LfB)is part of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of RWTH Aachen. We focus on the full spectrum of medical and biomedical imaging - from image acquisition to processing and visualization.We are seeking a PhD or Postdoctoral Researcher to expand our Low-Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (LF-MRI) group in the electronic systems development.In collaboration with Fraunhofer MEVIS, we develop next-generation portable MRI systems by combining innovations in hardware, electromagnetic simulation, and physics-informed AI for image reconstruction and noise cancellation. As one of the most promising directions in medical imaging, LF-MRI has the potential to bring MRI to the point of care, enabling new applications in primary care, and in mobile healthcare settings.The position targets electronics development for a new generation of LF-MRI scanners at around 100 mT B0 field strength (~4 MHz Larmor frequency), where coils, analog electronics, and shielding shall be designed, built and characterized.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWork across the entire electronics and hardware chain, from simulation and board-level circuit design to the assembly of the MRI scanner.Develop shielding and EMI mitigation for unshielded scanning, from passive concepts to active, deep-learning-based noise cancellation.Develop, prototype MRI electronics subsystems, including board-level circuits such as T/R switches, dynamic RF retuning networks, and receive-chain electronics through simulation and experimental validation.Integrate the developed subsystems into our LF-MRI scanners, translating the hardware innovations into improved medical imaging performance. Your ProfileAn excellent master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.Solid expertise in PCB-level electronics design; experience in RF electronics in the low-MHz range, around 4 MHz & Python programming.Independent and self-motivated, with a strong collaborative mindset.Passionate about advancing medical imaging through innovation.
