Its research ecosystem encourages scholars to address contemporary scientific and technological challenges through interdisciplinary approaches, high-quality publications, funded research projects, and industry-oriented innovation.Role DescriptionThe PhD Scholar position is a full-time, on-site research opportunity in the Department of Physics, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, under my supervision.The scholar will undertake original experimental research in condensed matter physics, with particular emphasis on areas such as magnetism, magnetic materials, functional and advanced materials, phase transitions, and related physical phenomena. The research may involve synthesis/fabrication of materials, experimental characterization, analysis and interpretation of physical properties, and development of research problems leading to high-quality scientific publications.The scholar will be expected to:Conduct an in-depth literature review and identify meaningful research problems.Formulate research hypotheses and design appropriate experimental studies.Perform material synthesis/preparation and advanced experimental characterization.Investigate magnetic, structural, electrical, thermal, and other relevant physical properties.Analyse and interpret experimental data using appropriate scientific and computational tools.Contribute to funded research projects and collaborative research activities.Prepare research papers, conference presentations, technical reports, and the PhD thesis.Collaborate with researchers from multidisciplinary academic and industrial environments.Participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and departmental research activities.Assist in laboratory, tutorial, mentoring, and other academic activities when required.Maintain high standards of research ethics, academic integrity, laboratory safety, and scientific documentation.The position is intended for candidates who are motivated to develop as independent researchers and contribute meaningfully to the department's research activities.QualificationsMaster's degree or equivalent in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.Strong interest and aptitude in experimental condensed matter physics and materials research.Particular interest in magnetism, magnetic materials, functional materials, phase transitions, or related areas is desirable.Understanding of fundamental concepts in condensed matter physics, solid-state physics, materials science, and experimental techniques.Ability to conduct literature reviews, formulate research questions, design experiments, and critically analyse scientific results.Familiarity with materials characterization and laboratory techniques relevant to the proposed research area is desirable.Working knowledge of scientific data analysis, plotting, simulation, or programming tools such as Origin, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent software will be an advantage.Good written and oral communication skills for scientific publications, presentations, and research collaboration.Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.Strong problem-solving skills, scientific curiosity, time management, and willingness to learn new experimental and computational techniques.Commitment to ethical research practices, academic integrity, laboratory safety, and responsible conduct of research.Prior research experience, research publications, dissertation/project experience, conference participation, or exposure to funded R&D projects will be an advantage.Research AreasProspective PhD scholars may explore research problems in areas including:Experimental Condensed Matter Physics | Magnetism & Magnetic Materials | Functional Materials | Magnetic Phase Transitions | Structure–Property Correlations | Advanced Material Characterization | Energy & Functional Materials | Data-Driven Materials Research
