The Photonic Research Centre (PRC) focuses on research in photonics and related fields, including optics, lasers, optical communications, physics, electrical and electronic engineering, and other related areas.We are looking for motivated students interested in joining the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) programme. As a GRA, students will have the opportunity to pursue a Master’s or PhD at Universiti Malaya while being involved in ongoing research projects at the Photonic Research Centre.Role & ResponsibilitiesAssist in ongoing research projects related to photonics and related fields.Conduct laboratory experiments and collect research data.Analyse experimental results and perform literature reviews.Assist in preparing research papers, presentations, and reports.Work closely with supervisors and research team members.Participate in research meetings, seminars, and other academic activities.Who Can Apply?We welcome applicants with a background in:PhysicsPhotonics / OpticsElectrical & Electronic EngineeringOptoelectronicsTelecommunicationsMaterials Science / EngineeringApplied PhysicsOther related science and engineering fieldsApplicants interested in pursuing either a Master’s or PhD at Universiti Malaya are encouraged to apply.Preferred SkillsInterest in research and laboratory work.Basic knowledge of optics, photonics, physics, or engineering.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Basic knowledge of MATLAB, Python, COMSOL, or similar software is an advantage but not compulsory.Good communication and scientific writing skills.Why Join Us?As a GRA, you will have the opportunity to pursue your Master’s or PhD at Universiti Malaya while gaining hands-on research experience in a research-intensive environment.If you are interested in photonics, physics, electrical engineering, or related fields and would like to pursue postgraduate studies at UM, we welcome you to join us as a Graduate Research Assistant.
