Academic programs focus on culturally and personally relevant activities that foster problem solving, academic discourse, and critical analysis.Role Description The 9th Grade Physical Science Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Slaughter, LA. This role is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging physical science lessons for middle and/or high school students, aligned with the school’s college-preparatory curriculum and state standards. Daily tasks include designing lesson plans, preparing instructional materials, teaching classes, managing the classroom environment, and providing timely feedback on student work. The teacher will differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, integrate mathematics and scientific inquiry into lessons, and use data to monitor and support student progress. Additional responsibilities include communicating regularly with families and colleagues, participating in professional development, and contributing to school-wide initiatives that promote academic rigor and student success.QualificationsStrong foundation in Science Education and Physical Science, including core concepts in Physics.Ability to integrate Mathematics into physical science instruction to support conceptual understanding and problem-solving.Qualified Teacher credentials, with appropriate state certification or eligibility for certification in secondary science.Proficiency in Lesson Planning, curriculum alignment, and use of formative and summative assessments.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Physical Science, Physics, or a related field.Experience teaching middle or high school students in a classroom setting, preferably in a college-preparatory or charter school environment.Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to equity and inclusion.Ability to use educational technology and data-driven instructional practices to enhance learning.
