Pilot Engineer – Energy Systems Development & DeploymentWhat if you could help shape the future of long-duration energy storage?We're supporting an ambitious university spin-out developing a next-generation membrane-less Redox Flow Battery designed to accelerate the transition to renewable energy while reducing dependence on critical raw materials. Backed by venture funding and world-class research, the company is now moving from development into real-world deployment and is looking for a Pilot Engineer to play a pivotal role in that journey.This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage, where your ideas will directly influence the design, deployment and evolution of the technology. You'll work across disciplines, see your work quickly move from concept to reality, and help deliver pilot systems that could shape the future of sustainable energy.What you'll be doingYou'll take ownership of bringing together the mechanical, electrical and fluidic elements of a containerised flow battery system, helping transform cutting-edge research into deployable products.Key responsibilities include:Leading the system-level design and integration of pilot battery systems.Managing pilot deployments from planning through to installation and commissioning at customer sites.Identifying, selecting and working with external suppliers and integration partners.Coordinating procurement, logistics and on-site assembly activities.Collaborating closely with the wider engineering team, contributing wherever needed to help deliver successful projects.What we're looking forYou'll likely have experience working on complex industrial or energy systems and enjoy taking ownership in fast-moving engineering environments.We're interested in people with:Experience designing, integrating or deploying energy systems, ideally within flow batteries, fuel cells or related technologies.Strong understanding of P&IDs, with experience using EPLAN and CAD software.Experience managing suppliers, integrators or third-party engineering partners.A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or a related engineering discipline.Professional fluency in both English and German.Knowledge of relevant industrial standards, compliance requirements and engineering best practice.A hands-on, problem-solving mindset and genuine enthusiasm for building new technology.Why join?Help commercialise a breakthrough clean energy technology.Join an early-stage deep tech company where your work has immediate impact.Influence product design, engineering processes and deployment strategy.Work alongside a highly technical, mission-driven team.Be part of the transition towards more sustainable, resilient energy infrastructure.If you're excited by the challenge of turning innovative technology into real-world energy systems, we'd love to hear from you.
