Planning Manager

About Us HR On Demand (HROD) is a Texas-based, full-service HR partner helping global companies establish and grow compliant, high-performing U.S. operations.We're posting this role on behalf of our client, a leader in robotics and intelligent optical systems.Role Overview We are seeking a Planning Manager to lead end-to-end supply chain management (SCM), frommaterial intake through final shipment. This people leader will manage the planning team, oversee MRP, material availability, and production schedules, and partner with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Sourcing to meet customer commitments.Key Responsibilities●Own end-to-end SCM, from material intake and inventory control through production planning and final shipment.●Lead, coach, and develop a team of planners and materials professionals; set priorities, manage performance, and scale the team as production ramps.●Review customer orders, forecasts, and changes; manage MRP based on BOM, inventory, open POs, lead times, and demand.●Identify material shortages, capacity constraints, and delivery risks, and drive corrective actions across Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics.●Partner with Purchasing and Sourcing on material priorities, alternate suppliers, supplier capacity, and long-lead-time components.●Manage order allocation and production priorities when demand exceeds capacity; monitor WIP, backlog, and shipment status.●Lead planning response to demand, engineering, and quality changes, and coordinate NPI material readiness.●Track planning KPIs, including on-time delivery, schedule attainment, backlog, inventory turnover, and forecast accuracy.Required Qualifications●Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations/Business Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.●6+ years of experience in production planning, materials management, or supply chain planning in a manufacturing environment.●Proven people management experience at the supervisor level or above, including hiring, coaching, and developing a team.●Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive corrective actions under time pressure.●Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and BOM-driven planning.●Strong analytical, KPI-reporting, communication, and negotiation skills.●Based in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX (onsite).Preferred Qualifications●Hardware/electronics manufacturing background strongly preferred; automotive or other automation-driven industries also considered.●SAP experience.Equal OpportunityHR On Demand and our client are equal opportunity employers.
