Platform Infrastructure Architect (Private Cloud / OpenStack)Sydney preferred | Full Time OR FTC | Immediate startWe're partnering with an AU organisation looking for an experienced Platform Architect to own the infrastructure side of their private cloud environment. We're ideally after someone from a medium or small enterprise, private cloud or hosting operator background, who's used to moving fast and owning outcomes end to end.Our client is a lean boutique, and the role needs someone who lives this stuff. Someone not afraid to get on the tools and build if they have to, a go getter who's as comfortable with a client as with a team of engineers. I'm ideally looking for an architect who hasn't been off the tools, or a principal engineer who can also produce HLDs and drive architecture decisions.What you'll be doingDesigning and building Linux infrastructure and private cloud environmentsWorking across OpenStack, virtualisation, compute and storageArchitecting networking, segmentation, load balancing and high availabilityApplying Kubernetes and containers where it makes sense, not just for the sake of itDriving automation through Terraform, Puppet and IaCDesigning CI/CD pipelines and deployment architectureBuilding observability, logging and monitoring into everything you designPlanning backup, disaster recovery, resilience and capacityManaging IAM, secrets and certificatesImplementing security architecture in practice, not just on paperDesigning platform patterns for applications like Django, RabbitMQ and PostgreSQLArchitecting dev, staging and production environmentsTranslating application architecture into real, working infrastructureProducing HLDs, LLDs and clear architecture decisionsWorking closely with Application teams, Security Architects and DevOpsWhat we're afterIdeally someone with recent hands-on experience in a medium or small enterprise, private cloud or hosting operator environment.Someone equally comfortable in a room with a client or a room with engineers and the ability to explain technical concepts in language that lands with the audience in front of you.A go getter, someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to buildPlease note, due to the highly regulated nature of our client's work, only Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents can be considered for this role.This one's moving quickly, so if this sounds like you, or someone you know, get in touch or apply directly max@jenkinbeattie.com
