Job ObjectiveLead the Infrastructure & Platform function responsible for Azure Cloud Infrastructure, Server Infrastructure, Edge Infrastructure, Client Systems and DevOps. Define strategy, architecture standards, governance, Infrastructure lifecycle management and people leadership, while enabling secure, scalable and reliable platforms for engineering and customer deployments — in line with GxP/Part 11, ISO, cybersecurity and zero-data-egress requirements.C. Primary ResponsibilitiesTeam & People LeadershipLead, manage and develop a team of specialist leads — DevOps Lead, Cloud & Server Infrastructure Lead and Edge Platform Lead — across Azure cloud, server, DevOps, edge and client-system disciplines.Own hiring, performance management, career development and capability-building for the Infra & Platform Engineering team.Build a cohesive team culture and shared operating rhythm across disciplines that have traditionally used distinct tools, practices and vendors.Platform Strategy & RoadmapDefine infrastructure strategy, platform roadmap, architecture standards and governance across Azure cloud, server, DevOps, edge and client systems.Own the integrated Infra & Platform Engineering roadmap, aligned with product and business priorities.Prioritise investment across reliability, security, developer experience, customer experience and cost.Drive platform standardisation, technology lifecycle planning and end-of-life (EOL) management across Azure cloud, server, edge and client systems.Represent Infra & Platform Engineering in Technology Office planning, budget and governance reviews with the CTO.Azure cloud & Server InfrastructureOwn governance and oversight for the Azure cloud platform (AKS, App Services, Azure SQL, API Management, Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, Storage Accounts, Key Vault) and Windows/Linux server infrastructure administered by the Cloud & Server Infrastructure Lead, including availability, performance, scalability and disaster recovery.Own cloud cost governance and optimisation — budgeting, tagging/showback-chargeback, right-sizing, reserved instances/savings plans and license optimisation — to keep Azure spend predictable, transparent and efficient as usage scales.Set standards for capacity planning, backup strategy and server lifecycle management across development, customer and production environments.Govern cloud and server security posture — RBAC, Managed Identity, Key Vault, Microsoft Defender for Azure cloud and Microsoft Sentinel — in partnership with Information Security.Support hybrid cloud connectivity and infrastructure compatibility for customer-hosted deployments.Own infrastructure audits, documentation standards and compliance with ISO/GxP and internal governance requirements.Resolve cross-team escalations and dependencies between cloud/server infrastructure and DevOps or edge platforms.DevOps GovernanceOwn the enterprise DevOps roadmap led by the DevOps Lead, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps and developer enablement.Track delivery performance (DORA metrics) and drive continuous improvement in deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate.Ensure DevSecOps controls and the zero-data-egress principle are consistently applied across Azure cloud, server and edge/device delivery pipelines.Edge Infrastructure & Client SystemsGovern edge infrastructure — industrial PCs, GPU platforms, embedded edge devices — and client systems (desktops/workstations), led by the Edge Platform Lead, including hardware platform decisions, deployment standards, lifecycle planning and cost, aligned with the broader Infra & Platform roadmap.Ensure operating practices for edge and client-system endpoints — patching, monitoring, security baselines, incident response — are consistent with cloud and server practices wherever practical.Coordinate with the AI/Image Processing and Product Engineering teams on edge platform standardisation and its dependencies on cloud/DevOps pipelines (e.g. AI model deployment to edge devices).Own the prioritisation, resourcing and cross-team alignment.Reliability, Security & ComplianceOwn the overall reliability posture (SLIs/SLOs, incident management, root cause analysis) across cloud, server, DevOps toolchain and edge/device environments.Ensure GxP/Part 11, ISO and cybersecurity requirements, and the zero-data-egress-from-Azure-tenant principle, are consistently enforced across every platform layer.Own major incident review processes across the unified infrastructure estate.Vendor, Cost & GovernanceOwn the Infra & Platform Engineering budget, spanning cloud consumption, DevOps/DevSecOps tooling licences, server hardware and edge/device hardware procurement.Manage strategic vendor relationships (Microsoft Azure, DevSecOps tooling, GPU/hardware vendors) and licensing negotiations.Drive infrastructure cost optimisation (FinOps) across the cloud, on-premise and edge estate, holding the Cloud & Server Infrastructure Lead accountable for tagging, right-sizing and reservation practices at the execution level.People & CollaborationPartner with Product, Technology, QA, PMO and cross functional leadership to align infrastructure and platform priorities with product delivery.Report platform health, risks, dependencies and roadmap progress via Live Dashboard on ADO.D. Technical SkillsAzure, AKS, Windows Server, Linux · Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins · Terraform, Bicep · Docker, Kubernetes · PowerShell, Python, Bash · Industrial PCs, GPU Platforms, Client Systems (deep hands-on expertise sits with the Edge Platform Lead; working familiarity here is sufficient for informed prioritisation and technical/vendor conversations) · Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Grafana, Prometheus · Site Reliability Engineering, ITIL · DevSecOps tooling and practices (SAST/DAST, dependency & secret scanning) · budgeting, vendor management and FinOps · GxP/Part 11, ISO and cybersecurity compliance frameworks.E. Educational & Experience RequirementsEducation: Engineering Graduate (Computer Science, IT, Electronics or related discipline). MBA or equivalent management qualification is a plus.Experience: 12+ years of Infrastructure & Platform experience, with at least 5 years managing Cloud, Server, and DevOps teams. Prior exposure to edge/embedded/OT or GPU-based platforms is a plus.Preferred Certifications: AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert), AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert), ITIL or equivalent certification is a plus.
