Our teams collaborate across Coaching, Sports Science, Medical, Performance Analysis, Scouting, Recruitment, Academy Operations, and Management to support long-term player growth.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Player Development Manager to lead comprehensive player-development programs across technical, tactical, physical, mental, educational, and professional dimensions.The ideal candidate will create individualized development pathways, coordinate multidisciplinary support, monitor player progress, and ensure that athletes receive the training, resources, feedback, and opportunities required to reach their potential.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement player-development strategies aligned with sporting objectives.Establish structured development pathways for players across different stages of their careers.Conduct individual player assessments covering technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and professional capabilities.Create individualized player development plans with measurable objectives and milestones.Coordinate with coaches to establish appropriate technical and tactical development priorities.Work with Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning teams to support physical development.Collaborate with medical and rehabilitation teams to ensure development plans reflect player health and availability.Partner with Performance Analysis teams to use match and training data to identify development opportunities.Use video analysis, performance data, scouting reports, and coach feedback to assess player progress.Establish regular player reviews and development meetings.Track individual progress against agreed objectives and performance benchmarks.Identify strengths, development gaps, potential risks, and areas requiring targeted intervention.Design targeted development programs for technical, tactical, physical, and decision-making skills.Coordinate additional coaching, specialist training, mentoring, and development resources where required.Support players transitioning between academy, reserve, professional, or senior teams.Develop pathways for high-potential players to gain appropriate competitive experience.Coordinate loan, transfer, second-team, or external development opportunities where applicable.Maintain strong communication with coaches, players, families, representatives, and relevant stakeholders.Provide players with constructive feedback and clear development expectations.Develop mentoring and leadership programs that support professional maturity and personal growth.Support players in developing communication, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and professional behaviors.Promote appropriate education, career planning, financial awareness, and life-skills development.Support player welfare and help identify personal or professional challenges that may affect development.Establish standards for player professionalism, conduct, attendance, preparation, and accountability.Monitor training participation, workload, performance, and development consistency.Coordinate individual development objectives with team tactical and competitive requirements.Ensure development plans remain flexible based on performance, position, age, workload, injuries, and career objectives.Benchmark player performance against internal standards and relevant external benchmarks.Work with Scouting and Recruitment teams to assess development potential and long-term player value.Identify emerging talent within the organization's development pathway.Support succession planning and long-term roster development.Develop player-development reports for coaches, technical leadership, and senior management.Maintain accurate player-development records, assessments, plans, and review documentation.Establish development KPIs and analytical frameworks to measure program effectiveness.Evaluate the effectiveness of development interventions and adjust programs based on results.Research emerging player-development methodologies, coaching approaches, technology, and performance practices.Introduce appropriate technology, analytics, wearable data, video tools, and digital learning resources.Lead multidisciplinary player-development meetings and ensure clear ownership of development actions.Promote a consistent development philosophy across teams, age groups, and training environments.Ensure player-development activities comply with applicable sporting regulations, safeguarding requirements, and organizational policies.Lead should have strong experience in player development, coaching, academy management, sports performance, talent development, or professional athlete development, preferably within a professional club, academy, league, federation, or high-performance sporting environment.The candidate should demonstrate:Strong understanding of athlete development principles and long-term player pathways.Experience creating and managing individualized development plans.Strong knowledge of technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of player development.Experience working with coaches, sports scientists, medical professionals, analysts, and other specialists.Strong understanding of performance analysis and player assessment methodologies.Experience using video analysis, performance data, scouting information, or athlete-monitoring systems.Strong mentoring, communication, and relationship-management skills.Ability to provide constructive feedback and motivate players toward measurable improvement.Strong understanding of talent identification and high-potential player progression.Experience managing player transitions between development and senior environments.Strong organizational and project-management capabilities.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to balance individual development with team and competitive requirements.Strong understanding of athlete welfare, safeguarding, professionalism, and confidentiality.Ability to work effectively with players from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.Strong leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Experience working with international and distributed teams is highly desirable.
