We are seeking a motivated team player who, like us, has high standards for quality work, is able to multi-task and has a great sense of humour.Qualifications & AttributesPost-secondary degree or diploma in a related field of studyAt least three years’ experience working in policy advocacy or government relations, preferably within a non-profit environmentHigh degree of political acumen and awarenessAbility to draft and edit persuasive contentSelf-disciplined and detail-orientedStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsConsistently looks to grow themselves and their contributions in pursuit of the organization’s interestsKey Areas of ResponsibilityCommunicates policy objectives and positions in a variety of formats, including policy papers, opinion pieces, briefs and in-person, with close attention to accuracy and detailMonitors a wide variety of academic and non-academic sources to build a strong knowledge of the policy portfolio and peripheral issuesReads, synthesizes and shares insights from those sources with a view to putting data and information into context, drawing conclusions and identifying policy opportunitiesIn coordination with the policy team, works with internal and external stakeholders and government/political officials to develop actionable policy solutions that advance the objectives of Polytechnics Canada and its membersOversees meeting agendas, summary notes and next steps for assigned member working groupsOrganizes and participates at meetings with government officials and politicians with a view to building relationships and influencing policyPay$65,000 - $70,000 per yearBenefitsDental careEmployee assistance programExtended health careRRSP matchWork LocationIn person
