Operations:Scheduling: Whether for large-scale advocacy days or multi-stakeholder planning meetings, scheduling support for our non-profit sector clients is an integral part of the role. Research: Conduct background research and analysis and be able to present to colleagues on findings, including, but not limited to testimony, information on elected officials, and legislative history. Notetaking: Regularly attend certain internal meetings and take detailed notes of decisions to inform future action.Writing Client Communications: Working with colleagues to compile a weekly newsletter and key policy issue newsletters to clients, as needed. Events support: provide administrative assistance during fundraisers and other events organized by the firm.Proofreading: Review written materials for grammatical or other errors. Legislation:Track relevant legislation as it develops and advances through the State Legislature, or City Council in real time. Be aware and communicative about related Executive Orders and bill signings. Appropriately update colleagues in real time.Hearing coverage:Preparation: Proactively review and notify colleagues’ whose client portfolios will be impacted by City Council hearings. Update shared calendar accordingly, and communicate with colleagues regarding coverage requirements.Coverage: While most hearings are monitored online, we are seeking candidates who want to participate, network, and learn on the ground by attending events in-person when scheduling permits. Summarize: Utilize applicable technology to craft summaries of hearings according to client needs.Follow Up: Monitor Council website for relevant published testimony and transcripts for follow-up with clients. Core Competencies:Ability to analyze and interpret information, policies, and regulations. This includes conducting research, synthesizing information quickly, and attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience in managing projects, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks. Proficiency with spreadsheet software.Desire to be part of a fast-paced, energetic team and grow with our company. Required Education & Experience:A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study including public policy, political science, public administration, economics, sociology, or related areas.
