Dr. Ginger Yang's team in The Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) located in Abigail Wexner Research Institute of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to work on NIH funded research studies that focus on injury prevention and control in children and adolescents, with a particular focus on traumatic brain injury and teen driving safety. We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist with expertise in either traumatic brain injury or teen driving safety.The Post-Doctoral Research Scientist will work under the supervision of Dr. Ginger Yang, the principal investigator and will work closely with other research staff on the team. The person in this position will focus on enhancing their injury research skills including study design, instrument development and validation, and data collection and analysis methodology. The person will also participate in scientific writing of conference abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and grant applications while working towards a goal of becoming an independent researcher.Current projects include the following active NIH funded R01s focusing on:Developing a multimodal AI system to predict post-concussion mental health sequelae in youth.Using a virtual reality application to improve concussion recognition and reporting among youth soccer players.Longitudinally evaluating driving performance among teen drivers following mild traumatic brain injury.Using a smartphone application to improve teen driving safety.Evaluating the implementation and cost-effectiveness of an evidence-based safe driving intervention tailored to rural and urban teen drivers with traffic violations.CIRP: Established in 1999, the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) serves as a pioneer in injury and violence prevention by translating cutting edge research into education, advocacy, and advances in clinical care. There are numerous opportunities to enjoy the arts, recreational activities, and cultural and sporting events, and to continue educational endeavors.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Earned PhD in the field of Public Health, or equivalent degree.Prior experience of injury and/or violence research.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills including experience with statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, and/or SPSS.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals either as a lead author or co-author.Experience in participating in research activities in NIH funded grant or involving in writing a grant application.Please submit a cover letter with your application expressing your interest in injury research and future career goals, along with your CV to Dr. Ginger Yang at Ginger.Yang@nationwidechildrens.org.
