A postdoctoral position is available in the Entenberg laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine to study mechanisms regulating breast cancer dissemination, metastatic progression, and recurrence. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and highly motivated individual to join a multidisciplinary team of cancer biologists, biomedical engineers, imaging scientists, and physician-scientists. The research integrates cancer biology with advanced imaging, microfluidics, engineered cell-based systems, and mouse models to investigate how physical and cellular features of the tumor microenvironment influence cancer-cell behavior. The fellow will contribute to several newly funded projects examining cancer-cell stemness and mechanotransduction, tumor-cell re-dissemination from established metastatic lesions, and the role of macrophage populations in local and distant recurrence from early-stage breast cancer lesions. Experimental approaches include fluorescent reporters and biosensors, engineered cell-based assays, mouse models of breast cancer, photoconversion/photoactivation, microfluidics, and intravital multiphoton microscopy. This position offers a unique opportunity for truly interdisciplinary training across cancer biology, advanced imaging, microfluidics, and quantitative experimental approaches. Fellows with a strong cancer biology background will gain expertise in advanced imaging and microfluidic approaches, while those with stronger technical training will deepen their understanding of cancer metastasis, tumor microenvironment biology, and in vivo experimental models.Applicants should have, or be about to complete, a PhD or MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in cancer biology, cell biology, biomedical engineering, biophysics, or a closely related field. Experience in cancer metastasis, tumor microenvironment or macrophage biology, mammalian cell culture, mouse models, fluorescence microscopy, mechanobiology, or advanced cell-based assays would be particularly valuable. We are especially interested in candidates who are comfortable working with advanced experimental technologies, enjoy troubleshooting complex systems, and are able to learn and apply new techniques quickly. Candidates should be willing to work with live mice and have a strong interest in learning and applying microfluidics, intravital microscopy, and other advanced imaging approaches. First author publications and excellent experimental design, communication, and collaborative skills are required, as is the ability to work independently in a team setting. To apply, please send a CV, a brief statement describing prior research and research interests, and contact information for three references to: David Entenberg: david.entenberg@einsteinmed.edu (https://einsteinmed.edu/faculty/10605/david-entenberg/)Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
