Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) | Molecular mechanisms of multimeric membrane protein assemblyA fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience led by Dr. Andrija Sente at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany. The position is available from January 2027 and is initially limited to 2 years. The successful candidate (m/f/d) will join a vibrant, newly established research team with access to state-of-the-art core facilities for light and electron microscopy, flow cytometry, and mass spectrometry.Project and responsibilitiesThe researcher will investigate the cell biological pathways underlying the assembly of multimeric membrane proteins using CRISPR-based genetic screens, as well as mechanistic dissection using techniques from molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and structural biology. Responsibilities include:Designing and applying advanced experimental techniques to achieve project goalsConducting independent, high-level research and contributing to project directionSolving complex technical challenges using novel approachesPresenting results, publishing scientific work, establishing experimental protocols and maintaining accurate recordsTraining of team members and establishing experimental protocolsContributing to collaborative discussions and the overall functioning of the groupCandidate profilePhD in cell biology, molecular biology, molecular neurobiology, genetics, or a related fieldStrong experimental skills, creativity in problem-solving and proven interest in mechanistic cell biologyExperience in CRISPR-based pooled genetic screens in mammalian cells, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and mammalian cell cultureIdeal candidate would also have experience with primary neuronal cultures and iPSC-derived neuronsProven research track record (publications/preprints)Ability to work independently and collaborativelyExcellent communication skills and excitement about all areas of researchWhat we offerAccess to cutting-edge research infrastructureDynamic young team within a collaborative, international research environmentTraining, mentoring, and career development opportunitiesApplicationSubmit a CV, a 1-page motivation letter, and two reference letters by October 15, 2026, to Andrija Sente.
