Postdoctoral Researcher

Role Description The Postdoctoral Researcher at LabES: Laboratório de Engenharia de Software - ICMC - USP São Carlos will conduct advanced research in software engineering, including designing experiments, implementing prototypes, and analyzing empirical data. This is a full-time hybrid role based in São Carlos, SP, with a combination of on-site activities (e.g., lab collaboration, meetings, seminars) and some work-from-home flexibility for tasks such as writing and data analysis. Daily responsibilities include preparing and submitting research papers to high-impact venues, contributing to grant proposals, collaborating with faculty, students, and external partners, and presenting findings in group meetings and conferences. The role may also involve mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, supporting teaching-related activities, and helping maintain research infrastructure and documentation.QualificationsStrong research skills, including designing studies, reviewing literature, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.Laboratory skills relevant to empirical software engineering, such as setting up experimental environments, managing datasets, and using research tools or platforms.Competence in data analysis, including statistical methods, use of analysis software (e.g., R, Python, or similar), and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative results.PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field (completed or near completion at the time of hiring).Experience with software testing, validation, and generative AI.
