Power BI Developer

Job Description:Note: "Looking for W2 candidates only and local to Burbank, CA"Seeking a Power BI Developer to be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise reporting solutions that enable portfolio reporting within a product-centric operating model. This role will be responsible the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for dashboards and semantic models (Power BI), integrating data from multiple upstream systems and delivering new reporting solutions as business needs evolve. You will define metrics, implement scalable reporting patterns, and ensure insights are actionable and trusted. Success in this role requires strong expertise in Power BI (DAX, semantic modeling, performance tuning, Dataflows, and deployment practices), an understanding of, and experience working with enterprise products including CoPilot Studio and Power Automate. Experience with other data visualization tools and proven experience building solutions with agentic AI is preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesPower BI Development & Dashboard DeliveryDesign, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models that support portfolio and product decision-makingBuild and optimize DAX measures, calculated tables, and model relationships to ensure accuracy, scalability, and performance across large, multi-source datasetsTranslate business questions into clear requirements, metrics definitions, and user-friendly visualizations—balancing technical constraints with executive reporting needsImplement and enforce report/model standards (naming conventions, measure patterns, documentation) to improve maintainability and reduce reporting inconsistenciesProactively identify risks and gaps in data quality, model design, and reporting logic, and drive remediation with upstream system ownersDeliver executive-ready insights by designing intuitive experiences (navigation, tooltips, drill-through, bookmarks) that convert complex data into clear narratives.Data Integration, Transformation & ModelingIntegrate and transform data from multiple upstream sources (e.g., Smartsheet, Jira, SAP, ServiceNow, Clarity PPM, SQL-based sources), ensuring consistency and reliability across reporting layersDevelop robust Power Query (M) transformations and dataflows, and configure gateways/refresh to meet business SLAsPerform performance tuning across models and reports (cardinality management, aggregation patterns, DAX optimization) and troubleshoot refresh or dataset failuresEstablish and maintain metric definitions and calculation logic to ensure alignment across teams and reduce ambiguityPlatform Integration, Deployment & Solution OwnershipOwn the end-to-end reliability of the reporting ecosystem, integrating data across Smartsheet, Jira, SAP, ServiceNow, Clarity PPM, Power BI, and related platformsManage the Power BI delivery lifecycle (dev/test/prod practices, versioning, workspace and app management) and support governance including access controls and certified datasets where applicablePartner with platform and process owners to improve data quality at the source and ensure solutions remain scalable and aligned with the evolving product-centric operating modelBuild and integrate agentic AI solutions to accelerate analytics workflows (e.g., automated data quality checks, narrative generation, insight triage, and self-service assistant experiences), with appropriate controls and monitoringRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)7+ years of experience developing enterprise BI/reporting solutions, with significant hands-on Power BI development, preferably in an Enterprise Technology organizationAdvanced expertise in Power BI, including DAX, semantic/data modeling, calculated tables, and performance optimization across large datasetsExperience with Power BI administration and delivery practices (workspaces, apps, refresh/gateways, access controls) as applicableStrong Power Query (M) and SQL skills, including data transformation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting of data issuesDemonstrated experience integrating data across multiple enterprise systems (e.g., Smartsheet, Jira, SAP, ServiceNow, Clarity PPM, SQL-based sources, custom solutions)Proven experience working with imperfect or inconsistent data, identifying root causes, and improving data quality across upstream systemsAbility to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal directionSystems-level thinker with the ability to understand and optimize monitoring, and responsible AI practices) is a plusProven experience in agentic AI (designing and deploying agentic workflows using LLMs and tools to autonomously plan, execute, and validate analytics tasks) with an emphasis on security, reliability, and human-in-the-loop controlsHands-on experience with Snowflake, including designing and optimizing cloud-based data warehouses, integrating Snowflake with Power BI and enterprise platforms through scalable ETL/ELT patterns, and supporting high performance, multi source analytics and data modernization initiatives in partnership with
