About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Power BI and Microsoft Fabric expert to design, build, and maintain business intelligence and analytics solutions across the Microsoft data platform. You will work closely with business stakeholders to turn data into actionable insights and replace manual reporting processes with scalable, well-governed solutions. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, and you'll help set standards and best practices for Power BI and Fabric use across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports that meet business requirements and follow visualization best practices.Build robust, optimized data models (star schema, relationships, calculated tables) and write advanced DAX measures.Develop data transformation logic in Power Query (M) and connect to diverse sources such as SQL Server, Azure, SharePoint, Excel, Dataverse, APIs, and Microsoft Fabric.Implement row-level security (RLS), manage workspaces, deployment pipelines, and scheduled refreshes in the Power BI Service.Tune report and model performance, including incremental refresh, aggregations, and query optimization.Build and maintain semantic models and choose appropriate storage modes such as Import, DirectQuery, Direct Lake, or composite models depending on the use case.Microsoft Fabric and data integration:Build and maintain analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric.Work with Lakehouses and Warehouses to support reporting and analytical use cases.Develop data ingestion and transformation processes using Fabric Data Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2.Work with OneLake and Fabric semantic models to provide reusable, consistent data across reports and teams.Monitor and improve refresh processes, pipelines, semantic models, and overall solution performance.Support the ongoing development of the organization's Fabric architecture and analytics platform.Power Apps and Power Platform development:Build or support lightweight Canvas or Model-driven apps where they complement BI and reporting processes.Create workflows and automations with Power Automate, including approvals, notifications, and system integrations.Integrate Power BI with Power Apps and Power Automate where appropriate.Work with Dataverse, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 integrations when required.Governance, collaboration, and leadership:Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications and solution designs.Establish and enforce development standards, naming conventions, deployment practices, source control, and documentation.Support governance across Power BI, Fabric, and related Power Platform components.Mentor junior developers and analysts, and run training sessions for end users.Troubleshoot issues, provide ongoing support, and continuously improve existing solutions.Required Qualifications:5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI, including advanced DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling.Strong understanding of relational databases, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing concepts.Experience with Microsoft Fabric or a similar modern analytics platform.Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and semantic modeling.Knowledge of Power BI Service administration, security (RLS/OLS), gateways, and deployment pipelines.Experience working with large models and improving report and model performance.Experience integrating data from different enterprise sources, including APIs, SharePoint, files, and cloud services.Proven ability to gather requirements and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Fluent in German.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, and Direct Lake.Experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, or ALM Toolkit.Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate.Familiarity with Dataverse, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft 365 integrations.Familiarity with notebooks, Python, or Spark is a plus.Soft Skills:Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities.Collaborative team player who enjoys enabling others and sharing knowledge.Business-oriented thinking focused on delivering measurable value.
